Apparently they gave different names to camel by its state.. like Pizza eating camel has a different name than McDonald lover camel :D

Its strange that inspite of all popularity there are no famous war camels in Arab history. The most famous one is Zul-Jinah (The horse of Hazrat Hussain (RA) at Karbala). Though there is a war between Hazrat Ali (RA) and Hazrat Ayesha (RA) named after camel - Jang e Jamal. But again Jamal is a common name of camel

Interesting, I think camel were broughts by arabs in Indian subcontinent, In Rajasthan camels were used extensively in transportation but I doubt if they were used in war, as Indians relied on elephants and horses, Chetak of Maharana pratap was horse:)

You need to know Arabic and Arab culture to answer your question.
It’s not only camel that has multiple names. Find out how many names a horse, a lion or a snake has, just for some examples. You will see the pattern. Basically, Arabs name things based on their attributes, appearance, etc. and there are multiple names for things in arabic.
PS, God does not have just thoudand names, all good names belong to Him. Traditionally, Muslims have a list of His 99 names/attributes.

Normally there are 3-4 names of camel an Arab with reasonable knowledge knows. Its the stat of camel like how it eats, how it drinks and all that which attributed so many names to camel
