Can I please get your opinions on this make-up/hair salon? Keep in mind that I will NOT have the dupatta on my head…so dupatta setting is not a concern. Looking for someone for MU and hair for reception.

Looking at the desi bride I could guess that they predominantly did non-desi brides as the makeup lacks the 'omph' we expect and looks good with our heavy outfits and colours. Even when desi makeup is more simple as it quite often the trend these days the eyes are still generally heavy.
But the make up is still good. If you think it will go with the type of outfit/jewellery you are wearing, then I'd get a trial.

What about this one? They’re a little more expensive than the first one…but looking at the “non-model real brides” on the site…would you say this one is considerably better than the first one? Worth $150 more?

They seem to have the desi makeup down a bit more, but then the western brides are not good at all. And the before/afters do not impress me.
Also, the first place does a good job with the base and is consistent. If your skin needs a bit more.. then the first place might be a better choice and perhaps try to guide them on the kind of look you want for your eyes. I don't think it's something they can't do... they just need an idea and probably one trial run. Perhaps you can put (part of) that $150 towards a trial run with the first place seeing if they can do the eye makeup of you choice... it basically just comes down to more prominent false lashes and heavier liner, as well as more intensity with the shadows. The rest is fine.

you should go for a trial with the first place and ask them to up the glam factor. the second place looks meh. take some pictures of desi brides with you, maybe from the bina khan facebook page.

Thanks SGC! I agree with both of you that if I take pics of desi brides with me.....the 1st place should be able to "up" the "oomph" factor. :)
Do you guys like the desi bride they did(other than the oopmph factor? Her base and hair? Tikka setting? )? I was considering requesting the same person who did her.....at least this way I know for a fact she has done a desi bride. They have a several artists at the salon.

I’m afraid I did not like the first hair, it looked flat and messy. Tikka was badly placed too. But since your duputta is not going to be on your head I think it will be fine because their other hairstyles are good. If they did her second look too, then that one is much better (I didn’t actually scroll down to it yesterday) in all regards, including eye makeup - I don’t really have anything negative to say.
I guess they just need to be aware that the tikka doesn’t have to be in a centre parting (coz their other desi bride whose hair is out has it the same), if it’s not appropriate. So you can show them pics like this:

Stoppit: Thanks a lot for the links! Looks like I'm definately giving Thalio a try. I'll call them this week to make sure they're open on my date. I'm sure with some guidance from me for the "desiness"....they'll do a good job. The eyes you liked....Thalio himself did it so I'll try to book him specifically. :)

Here is a partial picture of my dupatta taken in bad lighting. The kameez is long and the front is covered with the kaam you see on the dupatta border. The back of kameez and the lehenga has lining with the orange color with light kaam. The dupatta border is also on the lehenga bottom. My jewelry is all silver with white stones. My hair will be up with tikka (no dupatta)…and I will look for some type of hair accessory that matches the jewelry (for the back).
If anyone has make-up pics that’ll match my outfit (MU heavy enough for desi bridal) and any hair recommendations…I would greatly appreciate it. I’d like to take some pics with me to the salon and I’ve had a hard time finding desi bridal make-up pics that’ll match with my specific dress.

i like the idea of doing the eye in a smokey grey/silver and keeping the orange on the lips in a darker, rustier shade possibly and going a bit sheer on it rather than matte or full out creme. but this is something i’m sure the mua will be able to guide you on better!

having said that, i do like the gold in some of those images and possibly if it was replaced with a warmer gold with a slight reddish base as opposed to rust shadow, it might work very well.
remember to take your dupatta with you and jewellery too to the trial so they can see what you are talking about.

Thanks for the ideas! I’m definately coming up with some options when I go for my trial. 
The jewelry pic below…my set is very similar to this. With so much silver already on my jewelry/dress…I’m not sure if its a good idea to incorporate silver on my eyes too. I don’t want it to be too much silver. But I’ll run that by the MU artist.

I quite like that first eye look I posted - it seems to have pale gold on the lid. Warmed than silver but not overly yellow.

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me with all the MU & Hair tips. I ended up doing a trial with Fashion Face (trial was yesterday). And I LOVED IT! :) The 2 people that worked with me were super friendly/patient, and they did a great job! I'm very happy with what they did (even fiance loved it too!). The pics I took.....the MU photographed VERY nicely! I was there for 4 hours and walked out feeling confidant and super happy.
Definately booking them for my wedding. Their price is higher than some of the others but personally, I don't mind paying that extra bit for my piece of mind (since my face/hair will make all the difference in my special day). They'll also be doing MU/hair for my mom/sisters. :)
