oh god this poem :teary1: i had it in high school hindi and now it comes back on this forum to haunt me :crying:

kai dinon tak chulha roya, chakki rahi udaas,
kai dinon tak kaani kutiyaa soyee uskay paas
kai dinon tak lagee bheet par chipkaliyon ki gasht,
kai dinon tak choohon ki bhi haalat rahi shikasht.

danay aaye ghar key andar bahut dinon ke baad,
dhua uthaa aangan sey upar bahut dinon ke baad,
chmak uthi ghar ki aankhein bahut dinon ke baad,
kauwey ne khujlai paankhey bahut dinon ke baad.

I was searching for gaon dehaat poetry and found that. Now I found that this has been used in a bolly movie Loteray. Interestingly, this was part of syllabus as per queer.

oh i see...i think this may have been part of Hindi course at a primary level. since i didn't go to school until grade 10, i did NOT read this poem. i also think that in South India, the Hindi syllabus is a elementary because it's not their first language.

i also had advanced Urdu with Elementary Hindi in grade 10 because i went to a Muslim University run High School. at AMU, non Muslims take Advanced HIndi with Elementary Hindi.

we had Deeniyaat as a compulsory subject while non Muslims had to do History of Civilization course.
