could u please help me .I have a test tomrrow , and its not all i understand and i need someone to explain to me , so my dumb brain can understand it.
Like this one Na+H2O= NaOH+H2
and now i have to balance it like this 2Na+2H2O=2NaOH+H2
and her is another one Ca+H2O=Ca(OH)2+H2
and now its balanced Ca+2H2O=Ca(OH)2+H2
i hope u guys understand what i need help to i know the answear but i need someone to explain how u balance such things.
Plzzzzzz help , plzzzzzz come to DG and explain this to me , or just try to explain in my tread.I reallly need help
And why do i got the feeling that no one will help me:teary2:
hi! though i left science two years back, i shall try!
see, Na has a valency of +2 in this equation, H has +1 and O has -2.
for an eq. to be balanced, both sides need to have equal valencies
however a layman explanation:
on the LHS, we have one Na , 2 H and one O
on the RHS, we have one Na, 3 H and one O
so, both sides are not equal. thus, if we multiply NaOH by 2, we get 4 H on RHS but we also get 2Na and 2O. Thus, we multiply LHS by 2 to get 2Na and 2o. also, we are able to get 4H!
The easiest way is to break down every equation into smaller elements.
For example, you have two sides to one equation, a right side and a left side. List each element in 2 columns and then match the quantity.
For example: (I’ll just make this one up)
H2 + O = H2O
To check the balance, break down each element and have 2 columsn.
Left side----------Right side
H = 2-------------H = 2
O = 1-------------O = 1
This equation is already balanced since you have the same number of both elements on each side. If one side had more than the other, then just multiply the side that has less with the number that’s gonna make it equal to the side that has more elements.
I THINK this is right…I am not a science major and I didn’t like science in university, so :rotato:
