Thori Si Jagga Chahiye

Did anybody catch this drama on Ary last night? It was so different and interesting. Quite good.

It’s the story of a hijara who is taken from his family by local hijaras when he is born. They ‘check’ his diaper and can tell automatically that he will grow up to be a hijara. That part I didn’t quite understand. I got the impression that the baby was a hermaphodite (sp?) but if anybody can shed some light on that, it would be much appreciated.

Anyway, the hijara’s mother comes to visit her/him everyday their entire life while the father is completely ashamed and disgusted with him/her. In fact, the father wanted to kill him/her when it was a baby. He grows up to be Shezad/Shezadi … very confusing for him/her.

It was quite a gripping story. I’ve never seen anything that depicts the life of a hijara in Pakistani society. The amount of discrimination they feel, treated with disgust and hatred and are made fun out of by everyone … and are never allowed to have normal relationships (brother/sister/friendship types of relationships) with the rest of society. It was quite sad really. All Shezad/Shezadi wanted was to be loved and everybody kept abandoning him/her cause of his/her status as a hijara.

I watched it in FEB. It was a new topic. Never seen anything of that kind on a Paki channel. But was very well done. Though I was wondering if that really happens in Pakistan or was it just fiction?

I saw a lil bit of it....

…i watched it in feb too…its quite intresting:k:

and sometimes scary too:bummer:

I was gonna open a thread on this drama too....i saw it last night...

It was kinda disturbing though very interesting...I was confused about the part too that how they found out that he's a hijra...

You know the concept about hijras on our side is that we should never hurt them bcoz if we hurt them, bad things can happen to us bcoz they are 'mazloom'....but then they are also treated with so much discrimination and hatred....confusing and hurtful for sure...

You know in the last scene of the drama i liked that guy's acting....the one who was playing Faisal...it was pretty good!

I watched it too mehnaz!! last night.

quite interesting , but I missed a few parts , shezad/shezadi moves in with someone what was that? and then he/she dies ....what happens after he is thrown out from his/her sisters wedding?

dint watch

Shezadi doesn’t move in with anybody PKC. She wants to move in with her brother after she buys him a massive house, but he tells her to get lost. She dies when she goes to visit him but he ignores her and just drives off … she chases him down the road and he just speeds up and she ends up getting hit by another car.

The ending was so sad. I got all teary eyed. :bummer:

I completely agree with you &Passionate.

aww that sounds like another drama called "Thori si Zindagi" which is one of those really long drams serials.. (i havent seen it but heard lots bout it)

hey Mehnaz, who plays the hijra?

sorry.. Thori si Zindagi is a different drama... bummer i cant remember the name of the other drama

I don't know the guys name but I've seen him in a few other dramas where he plays a regular guy. Hmmm, yeah, I know that doesn't help. :p

hahaha.. what does he look like? describe him :)

Ohh... well, I started to watch it from a scene where he/she was crying walking on a road and a song in the background. Quite a heart breaking song. He was wearing some green suit.

Well, since I missed the beginning of it I could not really understand until later what actually was the problem and who was that man who kept dissing him/her.

As I watched further, it became clear to me. But end was sure killing. I and my sister had tears too. True that guy (his/her brother), the way he cries, it looked too real.

And me and my sister kept trying to guess whether the one who played Shahzadi's character was a girl or a boy. Now I know from posts that he was a guy.

I saw him only in this play and he very much looks like a girl. I could not figure out until the end if that was a boy or a girl (I had a similar looking girl at school).

it was an amazingly sad drama, very well done indeed. the ending (where people are crying like crazy) was a little overdone but the mother's acting was just PHENOMENAL.

At the begining i was laughing like crazy... but then towards the end realized that these people are not what they choose to be...they are because thay are.

yes ambiguous gentalia is the term and it occurs to a small but significant percent of children, even in the US but here they have treatment for such things.
