Thomas L. Friedman Reporting: Searching for the Roots of 9/11

Thomas L. Friedman Reporting: Searching for the Roots of 9/11

New York Times columnist Tom Friedman reports from Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt and Europe on the roots of Muslim rage and mistrust towards America.

Supposed to air in the U.S. today (Wed.) at 10pm est on Discovery Channel.

Was wondering if anyone would like to watch and discuss? Not sure if proper forum to post this, or appropriate. If not, plz delete. Thanks.

Tom Friedman is fantastic. I will watch. We can discuss it tomorrow.

He was on Charlie Rose last night.. said nothing new..

He goes to Egypt and Qatar for Islamic rage....hmmm...interesting. Arent those two the largest US allies in the region? And why the heck did he go to Indonesia? They are as impotent as Dole on Viagra.

But on ABC last night he scaled down his demand for democracy in Iraq, rather he said " the leader should hold Iraq together & liberalize the Iraqi society', wasn’t Saddam doing the same for the last 25 some years?

Avgg. I still remember that day when I recited a "racist" on this forum to make my point in a discussion.
Now you are eagierly awaiting in happiness to see Friedman and discuss about his very radical and discriminating views about the Arabs living on the streets in monarch regions like Qatar and SA.
What do you expect from this discussion?

Is this the same guy who said Fraance should be kicked out and replaced by India as UNSC member… Well don’t be surprised he is a perl of wsidom…

On second thought I think he was right not that UNSC means any thing anyway… :hehe:

I wanted to find out if this documentary is an accurate.

I think its supposed to include interviews with Muslims and I wanted to find out if people here agree or disagree with what they have to say.

I haven’t seen the documentary yet.

Ali_R,

I didn’t know Thomas Friedman was a racist. I’m still gona watch it.

It is supposed to include views from Eygpt and Europe also. If anything, you can tell me whats racists about it. Or whats racists about him.

Do you know of a good documentary or book about the same thing produced or written by an Arab you could recommend?

:flower1:

Avgg, I didn say he was a racist. Read carefully.
There are enough documentaries and books about this topic. Im pretty sure about it but Friedman is surely the wrong decision when it comes to this.

I can’t give you any specific names but Im pretty sure youll find some and they dont need to be Arabs. That was not my point!

Pathetic !!

I cant get over how the overwhelming masses of Americans can not even tell a zionist jew from a christian in this country anymore.. Obviously after a successful take over of this country by zionists during the 70s to present..
Listening to zionist jews as 'experts' on 'muslims' is like putting up a 'muslim' on TV to talk about 'holy trinity'.. utterly pathetic..

Oh yea !! if ever any sincere and honest attempt is made to find the ‘roots to 9/11’ they WILL lead to white house/CIA.. READ !!

9/11 What Happened and HOW ?

^ exactly when did the oxygen stop reachng your brain?

Thomas Friedman knows more about the middle east than most pundits in the world. Go and find out about the man that won multiple pulitzers before venturing into pathetic and racist diatribes.

So what? An American prize for an American journalist big deal. Have you cared to look at thedistinguished members that make up the prize committee? Recieving a Pulitzer prize hardly says anything about Friedman's experience in the middle east. It would be more believable if Edward Said had made a documentary in my opinion.

Butterfingers,

Clicked the link to that website…looks like an awful lot of reading! Which section do you recommend?

:mudhosh: <~~~~~~ What my eyes will look like after.

Your reasoning suggests that we should disregard all "Muslim" opinion on non-Muslim issues. True?

Just as a FYI, Thomas Friedman was on the Oprah show this month… link: http://www.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200303/tows_past_20030318.jhtml They discussed this upcoming documentary of his.

Chaltahai this is your observation not that of an expert!

Nadia_H,

Did you get a chance to watch it?

Was it accurate do you think?

Anyone?

Well ok.

I will start with saying, Is it true that people believe as fact what they see on the internet?

Part of the documentary was saying that some attacked Twin Towers because they felt small and couldn't find a good job at home.

????

Mostly I think it depends on ones strength to do good? or be captured into doing wrong.

Those that did 911 were captured/brainwashed into thinking that America was responsible for their ills.

Bad thinking.

Good thinking would be how to improve their familes and their own country.
