well week back our paternal aunty came from usa to our home..she gave us ample amount of cosmetics and creams ,lotion ,etc (full kits of clinique, estee lauder etc..) first me my bhaibhi and sis were very happy to have all this then we read that all products are not for indiviual sale lol
people in usa can tell me what is the story behind these products..how she got this much products which are not for individual sale…companies gifted or stores gifted free.. expires or low quality products gave like this or what ..
They probably bought in bulk and then distributed them individually to you guys. if you scan the zebra code, it will NOT scan at a self-check outs. mystery solved?
You usually get them free with purchases of full size products. I know Clinique is always doing 'bonus time' where you buy 2 products and get a gift bag full of minitures.
Edit: This thread is really cheap, why can't you just accept the gifts gracefully.
Sometime companies bundle various things together and sell them at discounted price for promotional purposes. Those products if sold individually will have higher retail price than in a bundle. Some people thinking that they are smart and they will un-bundle those things and will try to return to stores individual items, in a hope to get original retail price back for these items. The company is smarter than these people and mark those items as not for individual sale so that they do not have to return more money than it was paid as part of bundle.
As an example if you buy a bundle of cosmetics which has a lipstick , nail polish , mascara , body lotion , soap then the company might give you a bottle of some perfume free , but that perfume will be marked not for individual sale and so will all other items in that bundle.
Samjh Aya k nahi ?
she brought you lot of little bottles of shampoos, soaps, conditioners and body lotions didnt she?
what brand you got? ramada shampoo, country inn soap, motel six conditioner.
:D
She has mentioned the brands in her message.
Your aunt must have bought the whole package (as opposed to individual pieces that you got), and opened up the package, and distributed the contents the way she deemed fit. They are gifts....accept them gracefully, rather than trying to find the source or method of their procurement. Besides, the quality is good. You got branded cosmetics.

no
KKf's answer seems most appropriate. However these are things for you to check. Is there an expiry date on the packaging (bottle/case/jar etc)? Also what size are they? To be perfectly honest, no one can say for sure unless you share a photo of the items.
In general I think you should be thankful for what they gave you. they are not obligated in anyway to bring you gifts. I wonder how old you are and if you realize how hard it is to carry things these days in international travel. There are luggage limits and any thing even 1 lb over is charged by all airlines. Only business class travelers get some extra baggage allowance. Rest of the crowd has to stick with the bare minimum.

thats not a mystery its common every where. in uk and pakistan you do get gifts set of different brands where the product inside cannot be indivdually sold. (the whole pack have to be sold)
there could be several reasons for her to gift you "not for individual sale" products.
1) she might have got lots of gifts sets, opened them and decided to mix and match so that there is a variety of brands for each of you rather than one lady getting gifts of one brand.
2) she might have been collecting the free ones via promotion or something.
they cannot be low quality products as the brands you mentioned are very expensive....and trust me girls and guys will be more than willing to buy the faulty ones of these products (since they will be low price)...so anyone who is getting the original brand new is luck one.
you shouldnot worry on how she got them but that she got them for you. :)
I give all my gwp Clinique to my cousins.. better than it sitting at home and they do like using the premium stuff.. course they get 'real' gifts as well tho..
Lol, the guys are writing such long comments and along the wrong lines.
As mentioned by some of the ladies, these are "Gifts with Purchase" or Holiday Gift Sets. They are the same products and the same quality as the full sized stuff, maybe just the packaging quality is generally not as good as the full sized stuff. I generally watch out for the Estee Lauder "Gift Time" so I can get the gift. I usually give both things to my MIL as she really likes the mini sized stuff for travelling. I'd take this stuff over 'drugstore' brands.
