Re: This one is sure to "delight" my Pak friends....
I thought about posting this FOUR days ago, but realized Vaughn NEVER said Zaheer is better than Akram. All he said was, at times, the amount of swing Zaheer was getting was more than he had seen with Vaas or Akram.
Times of India had this intriguing "Zaheer better than Akram: mini headline, but the article said nothing of the sort. Also check out Cricinfo for the same article... they never headlined it as "Zaheer better than Akram".
Also, how much has Vaughn seen Akram's bowling? Akram retired in 2003, so I am not sure how much chance Vaughn has had to face Akram. If Zaheer was getting prodigious amounts of swing, then all credit to him. History will judge who the better bowler was... they didn't call Akram "Sultan of swing" for nothing. Three years ago, Irfan Pathan was the next Akram. Now it appears it's Zaheer.

^ I don't disagree with you.
Times Of India/Hindustan Times and the rest of their ilk have made a habit of spinning and hyping news to cater to credulous Indian middle-class public.

Re: This one is sure to “delight” my Pak friends…
I was talking to an Indian friend of mine today and he told me that there are rumours circling about Vaughan’s comments that he was trying to hint on the possibility of ball tampering by Zaheer and RP Singh during the series :hehe:
Re: This one is sure to "delight" my Pak friends....
and vaughan is better than bradman....
Re: This one is sure to "delight" my Pak friends....
one good series and indian media thinks Zaheer is the best left arm pace bowler of all time. Akram used to have that title. Maybe Balaji will return and help his team win a series against Pakistan @ home and he will become better than Mcgrath, Hadlee and etc.
This is why I dont believe in indian media.
Re: This one is sure to "delight" my Pak friends....
I don't know whether to laugh at Vaughan or people who believe in him?
Re: This one is sure to “delight” my Pak friends…
and I am better then Bradman :k:
Re: This one is sure to “delight” my Pak friends…
This should be in the jokes forum. Zaheer is a good bowler but is he really better than Akram?..nahhhhhh. For a start Zaheer lacks serious pace and consistency, unlike Akram Zaheer cannot consistently run thru batting sides. Trent Bridge was a great occasion for Zaheer. Let’s see when he next performs like that
Re: This one is sure to “delight” my Pak friends…
Test
Akram:- Matches: 104, Runs: 2898 , Ave. 22.64 , Wickets: 414, Ave. 23.62
Zaheer :- Matches: 50, Runs: 608 , Ave. 12.16 , Wickets: 160, Ave. 33.33
OneDay
Akram:- Matches: 356, Runs: 3717 , Ave. 16.52 , Wickets: 502, Ave. 23.52
Zaheer :- Matches: 128, Runs: 541 , Ave. 14.23 , Wickets: 185, Ave. 27.83
so i cant see any reason why Vaughan said that ![]()
