Nadz: based on your threads it seems that your husband and yourself have a very different mindset, his being a more conservative pakistani culture and you being more westernised. Were you aware of this before you married your husband? Do you think this will change when you move to the UK? How do you plan on tackling the issues that come up as a result of this difference for the rest of your life?

hes less stressed in the uk, but not less conservative. i mean, hes not really that bad, he reads namaz and he is abit strict, but he watches regular tv, not the islam channels that my dads always watching, he supports man utd and sits there and grunts when they lose and doesnt talk for a whole weekend. or if they win, i get lots of fist shaking and belly dancing going on in my room. NOT A GOOD SIGHT. he watches english films, he watches england cricket matches not pakistans....etc.
how do i plan to tackle these issues? i dont. there will be a time, when itl be me less giving, and him more so. that time will come. ive seen in plenty of marriages, women giving alot more initially in their early stages of their marriage, first 5 years is hard. slowly ive seen the men RELAX.

nah no need to shoot you, i was just curious since sometimes its hard even if you see the cultural differences to recognise how much they'll affect your daily lives.

Will you ever be willing to be friend with your MIL and ignore things that bother you about her for the sake of your husband? His hereafter is very much dependent on taking good care of his parents

Hey Nadz, Hope you and your kids are good! I would like to second Paheli's question in bold and also ask:
What advice would you give to a girl who is newly engaged and soon to be married?
I have read previously that you had quite a romantic idea of marriage (as most girls do and I admit I probably do as well lol!) but how you realised that in fact marriage is much harder than you first thought it would be, so what would you say to somebody asking for your advice?
Also if you could go back and meet yourself in the past when you got engaged- what advice would you give to yourself to better prepare for the future and maybe to ensure a peaceful life with your husband & in laws??
