This is what i am doing ..

I am **5 3’ **& have weight 67kg i.e. 148 lbs. This in in my view is really a lot. I am more of a roundish figure now with most flesh on my hips, thighs and waist.

Anyway, I need to shed almost 3kgs in 2 weeks before my sibling’s wedding, this is what i am doing:

  • Breakfast - chicken nuggets fried with half spoon oil which gives them a very dry touch
  • Mid day - Green tea & some fruit or boiled egg
  • Lunch - Normal lunch like half plate rice or 1 roti or a diet subway sandwich
  • Dinner - Almost 1.5 roti dinner or 1 plate rice

I am having no carbonated or soft drinks. I am having no bakery items as well.

Before i sleep i exercise for half an hour including crunches, push ups and some aerobic exercises.

What more should i do? Several times i have tried eating something other than roti/chawal in lunch/dinner but have never been able to follow any diet plan or get time to make something. Nothing other than proper food satisfies me so i have decided to take them but in small portion i.e. 1 roti or half plate rice that will satisfy me and not add more than 300 calories in the meal.

I also have a stationery cycle & Abrocket Abdominal trainer as well (i do crunches on this 30 times every day)
Macy’s → Abrocket Abdominal Trainer

I have to sit 12-13 hours of the day so will this routine drop the 3kgs or some thing more is needed?

You can add Cardios like Joggin / Rope Jumping 20 mins daily. Nothing beats them when it comes to calorie genocide.

Don't exercise right before bed, try brown bread/whole wheat chapati's and brown rice instead of white rice.

Re: This is what i am doing ..

Chicken nuggets for breakfast??? No no no....
You need to add a lot more cardio into your day, since you are eating roti / chawal twice a day. Limit this to just once a day. For lunch, why not try grilled chicken / fish with veg or soup and a salad?
You should aim to do a minimum of 30 mins of cardio a day and then build on this as your fitness level increases. Make sure you do some weight training too. No, this does not make you have big muscles, but tones your existing muscles (and obviously builds lean muscle). This is what gives that nice, toned look to your body.
You need to look at your diet too.. add more fresh fruit and veg to it. Switch to wholewheat flour for your roti (if not using already). Use olive oil (little) for your curries..... you can still enjoy desi food - but just make it a little healthier.
3kgs in 2 weeks is achievable...... just need to put in the hard work....

Re: This is what i am doing ..

chicken nuggets for breakfast?? is this because you are trying to add more protein in your diet?? lets go back to the basics for breakfast... protein in the form of an egg or an omlette is good. try more egg whites that even better... healthy cereal? special k?

midday should be the green tea and fruit...

you cannot have a PLATE of rice... if you are trying to loose weight and your roti should be whole wheat not white flour....

eat more veges, and fruit and drink more water. you dont have to follow a diet plan make lifestyle changes to your food.. dont cook with too much oil... or salt (it retains water)
you have a lot of healthy snacking option... fat free/ sugar free jello or jello pudding, 100 calorie packs of chips etc etc, granola bars, cheese and crackers

If you are not getting enough protein go to GNC and they have protein made especially for a womans body but dont over do the protein shakes as you are trying to loose weight

cardio cardio cardio... atleast 30 minutes... try small like 3X a week and work up to about 5X a week... and gradually build your endurance.. start small maybe at 3 on the treadmill and work up to 6 eventually.... its ok if you are sitting for a long periods of time the cardio will keep your metabolism elevated...

Re: This is what i am doing ..

Don't each chicken for breakfast - especially fried chicken nuggets, coz nuggets are processed meat and you shouldn't be eating any form of processed/fried meat when trying to lose fat.

Healthy breakfast options include - egg white ommlettes, porridge, granola & yogurt with some fruit or boiled eggs with a wholemeal/seeded toast. Include a glass of fresh skimmed milk(pure protien) or fresh orange juice with your breakfast daily.

These kinds of things will keep you sustained and fuller for longer and provide you with the energy you need up untill lunch.

Mid day - you are eating too less to sustain you untill dinner. You need to eat something like a chicken/tuna salad, or some sushi or a wrap with some fruit and fat free yogurt. Combining foods will not only make you feel fuller, it will make your eating more interesting so you will keep it up for longer.

Dinner - Personally I would avoid any kind of roti/rice such heavy carbs for dinner. Oven bake some fish and steam some veggies, finish off with a fruit salad. Very healthy and extremely tasty, low in salt and virtually fat free. Or you can have some wholemeal pita bread stuffed with chicken with a salad. Avoid oily salans and fried foods.

Fill you day snacking on low carb crackers, fruit, nuts, seeds, and veggies. There are so many yummy healthy things you can eat and trust me you will never be hungry.

I would also take some multivitamins and include omega 3, it will help you along the way. Good luck.

Re: This is what i am doing ..

Some very good tips up there. I would also add that you should add a meal between lunch and dinner and one after dinner as well. BUT these meals should be smaller in size. This makes sure that your body is fueled but you're not overdosing your self with carbs which gets turned to fat.

Bodybuilders follow this philosophy as well as any actors or athletes looking to put on size. Will Smith ate 9, small size meals, a day when he was bulking up for Ali and I,Robot.

Also you need to do weight lifting. It will NOT bulk you up as women do not have enough testosterone to build muscle to the same degree as men. Do full body exercises such as body weights squats, push ups etc to involve more muscles and save time. You could do these at home even.

Lastly, I would suggest adding cardio yo your workout. The safest and most time consuming is the 40-60 min treadmill jog/walk. The best way to burn fat is high intensity interval training (HIIT).

The basic principle is that you would do regular cardio for 2-4 min and then ramp up the speed and resistance of your bike or elliptical for 1 min. You should be going for about 80-90% intensity for this minute. This is one cycle.
After the minute is up go back to slow jog for 2-4 min (whatever you need to recover) then go hard for 1 min again. You need to do this for at least 20-30 min and I would suggest starting off with only 3 or 4 cycles. The benefit of HIIT is that it raises your metabolism for up to 48 hours after you're done so you keep on burning fat even when you finish.

PLEASE NOTE: this can be very intensive and if you are out of shape you should consult your doctor and perhaps start off doing regular cardio for a few weeks first.

If you do HIIT do it on seperate days from weight lifting and slower cardio.

As someone mentioned above, you need to make a lifestyle change. Add weight lifting (2-3 times a week) and cardio (2-3 times a week) to your routine and make some diet changes mentioned above and in other posts.

While it is possible to lose 3 kg (6.6 lbs) in two weeks it may be dangerous. Whatever you do, do not starve yourself. Make the changes mentioned by all the people here and you will see some progress.

P.S Supplement meals with milk. It is an excellent source of casein protein (slow breaking protein which your body breaks down slowly). Drink milk between meals if you get hungry. And eat nuts as well because they can satiate hunger cravings and are an excellent source of healthy fats. And drink lots and lots of water!
