Taliban have “banned” the entry of women into cloth market. wow. This is way to make the Islamic Emirate rich. This is so backwards that even 1400 years ago, no one ever stopped women from shopping.
Thus thanks to Taliban, Pakistan will be a state deeply set in year 500 AD as a backwater of some desert hellhole.
p.s. I guess some of the Islamist gappans would really like this new setup. Oh wait. They are mostly settled in the west. So they don’t to experience talibanization while supporting it.

I just want to know exactly how women shopping will lead to any harm.
You know what it is? Its this tactic to get women completely out of the public sphere - they don't even want women congregating in a small space - too risky, women might be planning some overthrow.
I don't get the psychology here, really - how can the kids joining these groups support these types of things - do they really believe women are that evil??
And furthermore, why the focus on the women's rights to do anything other than sit in their homes and poop out babies? Its some crazy psychological obsession, and it amazes me that somehow these guys rope in the men in the community to support it? I know many don't but there's always some in each village helping these goons out.

ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is planning to hold a series of national and international consultative sessions to put together recommendations on the implementation of sharia law in Swat, sources told Daily Times on Sunday.
The council has already organised two consultative meetings with representatives of civil society, NGOs and scholars. A meeting with clerics from the NWFP and Balochistan likely on January 15, will be third and final at the national level, and the subsequent all-Pakistan workshop would explore the findings of the consultative process to finalise the recommendations to the government.
Scholars from around the world will later participate in the international scholars conference to discuss the issue of the implementation of the sharia law in Swat. Non-Muslim scholars who have worked on Islam would also be invited, the sources said.**

These are the tactics to 'integrate' conservative people of their locality, we know how 'conservative' people are in outskirt villages of Urban NWFP (or in FATA), such "laws" or "actions" get thumbs up from those people and get easily brainwashed.
