I am relieved that India is out of the tournament, because if India had somehow managed to win, this match and ultimately the cup, then everything seems very unfair, that the best side in the tournament like South Africa missing out....
They were pampered too much and hence lost?
They wanted to give someone else (SA) a chance?
I don't think Pakistanis are happy about India losing because of the fact that they lost. If you read the posts again, what they are saying is that Indians had become too arrogant with the successes they have had in the last few years and started treating everyone else, specially Pakistanis, as scums. (Please read the comments from Indians on Pak v/s Neth match thread for reference)
As far as Indian media is concerned, they are the champions of sensationalism. Cannot expect anything sensible from them. If you read the comments on this news at rediff dot com, almost everyone there is criticizing the media for creating so much hype about an average team.
I think India should re-define IPL thing - its too tiring - looong.. greed for money should be second to national pride... IPL should have same pettern as World CUP ..
I'll get back to this thread after 2day's match ..
don't wanna eat my own words :D
Exactly :D
There is no need to go so overboard after one good win - yes that victory against NZ was fabulous
If we win today (inshallah) we w'd meet South Africa in the SF who not only have a psychological hold over our team (in both tests and limited overs cricket) but have also easily been the best team of the tournament so far
So before raising your expectations (ofcourse we all want Pakistan to do well) too high everyone bear that simple fact in mind
^ It's not about India losing or Pak winning, it is about attiudes and arrogance displayed and what BCCI has been doing in the last few months to ruin Pak cricket.
Pak team has already done more than what most of us expected and anything from hereon is a bonus and India fell well short of what was expected of it. That is the crux.
If you can win the cup ,do it .Otherwise even if you are Runner-Up ,it does not count at all.
For ex:-India was the champion in 2007 and they were the defending the champions till yesterday, but after the loss to England, they are out no matter whatever previous records they held.
At the end of the day ,your performance and your position count.
As regards to your comment on BCCI,I do feel that they have been quite rash in many things. But pls tell us one occassion where BCCI had taken a negative stance on Pakistan. Are you meaning the B.C.C.I refusal to sending team to Pakistan?I was an ardent supporter of sending foreign teams to Pakistan but the first week of March turned down all my expectations.
Well,I think Lahore incident proved B.C.C.I was darm right.
^ I am not talking about that incident but the pressure on SL team not to tour Pak, why would BCCI get invovled in that. It was upto SL board to decide not India and also at ICC meetings recently they have been very negative towards Pakistan.
As for win and lose, yes the team which wins the tournament will be remembered but home fans remember the performances fo their team as well and the expectations they had. In this case Pak was expected not to make any headway at all while India was expected to be in the finals if not win the tournament. Expectations count and matter to the team supporters.
^ chorain Ehsan bhai... it was all a conspiracy... they did not tell the Indians that they would not shorten the boundaries for the WC Matches as they did for IPL.

I am very aware of the indian media's often exaggerated and unnecessary publicity of their players, the kind of hype you see in British tabloids. The media w'd make gods and monkeys out of the same players within the space of a few months!! The BCCI's recent attitude and political interference almost isolating Pakistan internationally also leaves a lot to be desired.
And it is a fact that the indian media is more Pak-centric than the other way around. Just browse any of their websites; hindustan times, times of india etc. - any news pertaining to the 'dreaded' ISI makes front page headlines...
No one was expecting great things from this team for a number of reasons - selection errors (no Imran Nazir; Asif's unavailability; Yousuf and Razzaq's ineligibility & Akhtar's usu. shenanigans); team's recent indifferent form and lack of international cricket - but it is also a fact that if we do progress to the semis today we w'd have done so despite winning against only one established team (NZ)
^^ The link you gave says it all. A few lines of news and hundreds of advertisements on that page. Its all about money, which reminds me that ICC is a subsidiary of BCCI now.
^This is Net age and not Jet age.Earlier you had a Jet and you could bragg about it.Now you have Net and scores of ads will come in to play. There is nothing unusual about it.
I don't know if Pakistanis have crushed Irish but they sure did crush very badly some of the Indian hearts. That too between the blades of Umar Jatt khan and Saeed bahadur.
Let us have a moment of silence and tie a black band on our FOOT for mourning this cruelty.
England booed in their home ground. wow, that made them even stronger. A lesson for arrogant Indian fans who were expecting to win this cup right after they won the first.
It's not the time to gloat. We have won and lost the same number of games as India (2/2), but India is knocked out, and we have a pretty good chance to make it to semis. It's because India is in a tougher group. They were off their game the last couple of matches, but they're still a pretty good team. Pakistan, still has batting to worry about, and Ireland is not an easy team to play against.
There's a possibility Pakistan could lose against Ireland tomorrow and still make it to the next round, while India could win their next game yet have no chance of going forward.
Oh no it isnt same.... India had strongest team in wc.. them and SAfrican's were top favs. They didnt win one good game... pak atleast beat Newzeland !
Lets see how S.Africa treats em !
BCCI would be shocked. They tried everything to prevent Pakistani Cricketers from grooming, but still Allah (swt) helped them to final of the tournament.
