End of 2012 I’m hoping that there will be a lot of new games for the PS Vita (and also hoping they will improve it by that time).. but I have a problem I also want to buy a PS 3 
I don’t want to buy both because then I won’t have money to spend on traveling so which should I buy?

I would go for the PS3. Because I'd like to play on a bigger screen than on a 5'' screen.
Other than that Vita has a lot of pros. According to some reviews Sony has learnt from its mistakes. From better display to the ability to purchase or download games. The touch screen takes it to a whole new level. It supports Bluetooth and WiFi. A nd just the fact that it's portable is a huge plus from some users.
I still love my PS3 although I hardly get to play on it anymore.
