what do you do when you are feeling down and depressed. Things or activities you get yourself into to get the relief and if that works for you.
I am not talking about the normal bad days that everyone encounters but i am talking about the depressed state of mind which is caused by severe things like loss in business, loss of job, death of a closed one, illness of a closed one etc.
Re: Things you do to…
Quran, tasbeeh, sitting with family and relatives.
Re: Things you do to…
Oh I had this recently with a family death. I just stayed amongst my family members to avoid getting depressed by over-thinking, and also comforting them. Also like LP said, read Quran, pray salah too. The sense of peace and calm you get after is unreal.
Basically just busying myself to avoid over-thinking it until I feel normal again.

Re: Things you do to…
By sitting among family and talking about it to get the heavy weight of my mind. I have found that whenever I fully focus myself while performing wuzu, and then pray my namaz, all the worries just fade away and I can relieve myself of my burden just by praying and making dua, alhumdulillah

Re: Things you do to…
Praying, talking with family but at times when I just want to be left alone. I either lock my self in my room, sit in my car, or go to the coast.
Re: Things you do to…
praying and talking to family/friends does help but in the moments/the time when you are not praying or not chatting with family/friends, does your mind goes back to the depressing mode?
Re: Things you do to…
prayer…tasbeeh…anything that requires my full focus so that my mind does not have an opportunity to revert to those depressing thoughts.
Re: Things you do to…
Pray! cannot stress this enough if you don’t already, helped me immensely. After your salah make dua to make you strong enough to face tough times and whatnot, it works.
Additionally, go out, meet friends, get a job, get a hobby, join a club, join the gym, just get out of the house and do not stay at home dwelling on your tough time, makes it so much worse.
But always have faith in Allah swt and remember ‘verily with hardship comes ease’.

Re: Things you do to…
Well..first is..praying to Allah for help. Second is talking to friends and/or family. I didn’t say family first..because..in my opinion..somethings you can’t talk to your own family about. And sure..talk to family as well.
If you’re feeling angry, frustrated..well..it does happen we are all human beings..best bet is to read Quran. I feel..pretty good after.
Re: Things you do to…
It does as you cannot be busy or occupied 24/7, but when that happens, consciously divert your attention to something, may it be family, hobby, some mundane task/whatever. It’s difficult initially but possible.
Focus on the good things and be thankful for those. And like others’ mentioned: talking to family, praying, reciting some tasbeeh or Allah’s name that gives comfort. If you think this world and everything in it is temporary including us and our worries, it sorta brings peace.
Re: Things you do to…
Also, have a good cry about whatever is bothering you. Afterwards, I say alhumdulillah and I feel loads better.
