Out door things which we need to make our country beautiful, clean ad comfortable:

  1. Water Sprinklers in Summer months
  2. Availability of Public Bathrooms
  3. Well-trimmed jogging tracks, parks and patches of grass in children’s play grounds
  4. Rockeries and fish ponds, clean water bodies such as rivers and streams
  5. Clean roads, bridges, paved walk ways, tunnels, over passes, intersections & huge trash cans which will be regularly cleaned
  6. Trellises with vines of fragrant flowers
  7. Art work interspersed that is inspiring, installed at center points in the towns and cities
  8. Rename roads and streets to national legends
  9. Benches in tree shades every where with seasonal flowers around in flowerbeds.
  10. Doing our part in making the country look great :>

cleaning up is needed before beautifying.

1) get rid of the trash that seems to be on the streets everywhere and in those monds of trash burning here and there in many areas

2) have more strict and enforced rules on banners and posters, or those damn painted ads on walls. where they can be present, for how long and make ppl responsible for taking them off as well.

do these 2 things and u have won half the battle

Well atleast in Karachi in most of areas the park-allocated spaces that were converted with passage of time into trash holders, charsi-mawali hangouts have been converted into ACTUAL parks where kids and families go out in the evening for park, play-ground :k:

Strict traffic enforcement/Reduction of Pollution causing Vehicles

Daily Cleaning service on all major roads (early mornings perhaps)

Contracted Landscaping (To plant/replace/maintain greenery along roadside including dividers)

Expansion of trash bins throughout cities (Encourage maintenance of a clean city)

Restoration of Historic Places

Regulated Transportation Stations (uniformed bus stations that follow a system regulated by city Govt., issue fines to violaters)

Lets start with these simple things....

We need a service corp in Pakistan, something like Vista/Americorp to get many of these plans implemented.

thanks all. i agree that regular staff can help do all of the cleaning up work, but each citizen must be a member of the service corp. we should be all be able to keep the country clean, just like we would like our own living spaces clean in our homes.

following traffic rules is a must to avoid accidents and keep the road non-congested, absolutely.

They used to have hafta-e-sifayi back in the day... It was actually pretty good.

i think so too. when people will set example, like minded will get up and be on the go, as well. that is all that is needed. those who want to simply do what they do - i. e.,not be productive and caring, dont need to be bothered with.
hopefully, one day they will realize it on their own.

how old are you, and how old do you look...

Here are two suggestions that I have:

  1. People who spit and urinate in public, as punishment should be made to stare at a poster of Musharraf for 4 hours.

  2. Residents who find other people dumping garbage should take action themselves, beating the violators with dandaz or something, because the municipal people or the police will never be able to catch em.

sensor lights on path ways and road sides - will save energy and make peoples' ways well lit.

all sewers to have sealed lids so that no one will fall in them.

wires on electric poles be covered with rubber so that no one gets a current.

heavy fines for anyone who would let their dogs out on other people.

for each born child, a tree be sowed by the parents and taken care of, so that when the child is old, s/he can take care of the tree.

Yes, I couldn't believe until I saw it, it happened last year. I believe all the funds that were probably there (unutilised?) or city admininstration secured more funding for this particular project and made parks in the plots that were always there reserved for parks!
