I hated when groom used to take his wedding photo with his buddies instead to poor bride and all his friends looked like gunda and rapists.
We used to link all beautiful brides with decent guys by arrows.
We also used to draw mole guy models and give them Mula Jutt look and make girl models crossed eye. (quite a imgination eh?)

Most my childhood memeories are of Pak even though I've not spent long over there..
Smell of Kebabs and petrol fumes reminds me of Pakistan mornings at bus/train stations in Pakistan..
Smell of fire reminds me of (dinner time smell from the tandoor in) Pakistan..
Smell of 'mitti ka tel' that they put in oil lanterns reminds me of our bawarchi-khana in our village in Pak..
Smell of horse/cattle-poo or goat-urine reminds me of grandpa's farm ranch in Pak.
Smell of wet freshly cut grass reminds me of winter here in England..
Re: Things that remind you of childhood
every time i see kids in school uniforms with their striped ties and cute little jumpers!
candy floss...reminds me of the high street fun fairs in London :)
Re: Things that remind you of childhood
i gave my daughter Safia my old Cabbage Patch Doll and she's begging for my old My Little Pony and Et dolls. It's funny how all this stuff is back.
CCB...smell of horse poo...lol. The smells of crayons, playdo, chalk and plastic dolls instantly takes me back.
I used to watch Three's Company also. That was the best show. I watched it with my Daadi and she called it the "Jack Show". She also loved Johny Carson, she'd say, "Johny lagow." When Ed McMan would laugh my Daadi would erupt into laughter. It was hilarious. She also loved the Price is Right and Family Feud. But everytime Richard Dawson would kiss a woman she would say, "Iyyy...gundtha."Lol, she was so much fun and most of my childhood memories revolve around her since she lived with us.
I used to put oil in her hair and braid it for her. We used to draw together and do puzzles together. I'd help her with her medicines. I loved spending time with her. We just used to sit together and she'd hold my hand and say Thank you beta and start crying. I really miss her alot.

Today I was reminded of my childhood at the pharmacy, I have to spend a few months there to learn and today I had to sterilise some instruments by boiling them in a specially designed large pan, a bit similar to a pressure cooker.
Well, the smell coming out was terrible. I kept wondering why that smell was so familiar. My shoes? :D
After a few minutes I got it, they had a smell almost identical to the smell at farms during spring time here. There is this tradition each year in spring (some towns do it in the summer) when people walk about 10 km for four days. You get a route each day which you have to follow and at the end of the week you get a medal for finishing the complete route each day. It's not a game, everybody gets the same medal. The point is not coming in first, but participating and enjoying the walk.
We participated a number of times when I was little with school. The routes always took us on paths where the lands of the farms had this awful smell of dung ( is that the right word for cow sh*t?). You could smell that terrible smell from far away. It almost ruined the walk.
It was weird thinking back. I closed my eyes for a minute and I was walking there again, in the middle of the other children singing those crazy childrens songs again complaining of that smell.

Re: Things that remind you of childhood
just yesterday… i was looking at those flowers and ‘star’ marks i made at the corner of our kitchen door. my father used to tell me not to use ink on the walls and doors but i wouldnt listen. so i used a dark ink, almost the same color as the door paint so that it wont be visible. yesterday i was looking at it. how the time flies so fast. i was very young then. i missed my father alot
I dont know if he had noticed that I still used ink there inspite of him telling me not to. I wanted to rub off those marks but I couldnt. Then I thought I wouldnt and will show him when he visits next time.
Im missing him again now ![]()
