I recently did something I should not have done to my computer the first time ever to cause the computer to get burned.

This gave me an idea to post a thread so anyone invloved in computer building or related work as hobby or profession may add to the list from hardware to software related problems. Building a computer takes me less than an hour if all things are available. Only one screw driver of correct size is enough to build the computer.

What I did in a hurry, was to install new CPU fan thinking that it was installed properly but it was actually not! One of the clip got lose and my CPU was fried!!!
Somehow, “Bios” did not save it either.

Needless to say, I had to get new motherboard and off course a faster CPU.:slight_smile:

Moral: Install CPU fan correctly and check all holes if they are holding the side of CPU.

Any other Don’t or Do’s???

Never reboot while flashing your mb's bios.

^ Thanks. But what is 'flashing' the bios? Is that something to do with configuring the bios?

OK, MORE:.

1-Do not overclock the chip. (Buy a faster chip). Otherwise you may reduce the lifespan of your chip.

2- Always use;
Anti-virus
Firewall
Pop-upblocker
Spam killer

And keep them updated.

please .. you’ll reduce its life from 10 yrs to 8yrs?
who uses it. if a cpu gives you 3-5 yrs … its already done its job ..
