They're Gonna make Sadaam a Hero.

From the first couple of seconds of videotape, this was my feeling.

Sportily dressed in business casual attire with his defiant attitude.

On Gupshup we already know many of his crimes have been minimized, ignored or forgiven by even the most “progressive” here. So as a poke in the eye to America, he has been sadly and very mistakenly elevated in the region and amongst fellow Muslims.

Now the televised canonization begins. I can’t believe they can’t see this coming. The Iraqi government should take this trial off of TV immediately. The only significant storyline that will emanate from this cheap theatre is one describing a lone sole who dared to defy the world’s superpower.

As if Sadaam hasn’t gotten a free pass regarding his crimes on the Arab/Muslim street already, wait for the mini-series.

and u think he did all that on his own? .. sometimes the naivette or utter cluelessness from our ‘foreign’ posters amazes me.. either they ARE that gullible or it’s just part of their ‘jobs’.

No one benefits more from a lengthy Saddam trial than the US.. it’s just smoke and mirrors .. keep attention diverted from real challenges that face that puppet government.

He was always a dictator but who was in bed with him all that time he was killing people?

I'm just saying it's a new phase. He was already a hero to many simply for being on the other side of the U.S. in the conflict.

This (the TV Drama) is a new opportunity to embolden loyalists.

I do not think a lengthy trial benefits U.S. I think administration view on how to sell the regime change has been all wrong to begin with.

You can't blame them for thinking the deposition of a genocidal thug would be met with a bit more enthusiasm, but they consistently overlook the fact that anti-American sentiment is the most important factor upon which opinion is formed in the Arab/Muslim street.

A Saddam casually dressed like your uncle, an everyman standing up to America and its Puppet is not a new notion. Now it will take the form of televised drama which will inject a lot of power into that already flawed notion.

So I guess we will see what the lengthy tele-trial will do.

Help the U.S. as the prescient P.A. thinks or perpetuate a myth that will complicate the peace.

Hope he gets a fair trial and gets a punishment that he deservers (if all charges are proven). This should also send some shivers down the spines of other despots in that region. This (a trial of a despot by a Court of Law) is a new phenomenon in the Arab world. Can you name any other leader who was tried for alleged crimes? Asad, Nasar, Qadaffi, Bathists all came to power by killing their predecessors. Democracy is slowly making its way into that region, and it is only the beginning. House of Saud and other Shieks/Khalifas Ayatollas take notice!

Wait till 'Sharon' goes on trial for the atrocities of 1980.

^ and that will do what?

^ Would equalise the balance of justice....

Too bad that will never happen because they will continue to be in power as long as its convenient to America i.e. Royal familiy of Saudi Arabia.

But when they have accomplished their purpose or are no longer convenient to the USA i.e. Saddam, THEN the US will jump in like the holy crusuaders of justice and democracy.

^

VERY CORRECT

Saddam is a murderer and mass killer who was employed by the US of da A for decades this is known by everyone in the middle east and beyond.

No tears will be shed for this killer he is the same killer and mass murderer as George Bush and Bush senior no differences at all.

This stage managed court case is nothing but a show trial Saddam is no use to the Amerikkans no more so now the US is acting holy and angelic by putting on this show trial we all know they support dictatorships and monarchies when in there intrests they are like vultures!

Brother ak, hopefully this trial will judge this monster fairly and pass down what he deserves. While it would have be easier to just have him killed or hide him away without ever announcing his capture that would have been wrong. The flames of justice are glowing brighter today my friend and I can see the fierily reflection in your eyes and you needn’t hold back those tears of joy for fear they will act as an extinguisher, they only act as fuel. :k:

huh..a person from terriost country is telling us abt justice huh..after kiling millions of muslims, american will show us right path…i want to ask u whts ur age man

Chalna, liberty, freedom, and justice are not concepts created by America. Indeed they are ideas that Americans hold dear just as billions over the world do including those in Iraq. The suppression of these concepts by Saddam's regime lasted for decades and now that he is gone they have a chance to flourish. America is not showing the Iraqis the right path, what they are trying to do is provide sufficient security for Iraq as they walk down this path against the militants who know that a free, liberated Iraq is a victory not only for the Iraqi people but for America as well. Brother chalna, join in supporting the Iraqi people as they walk down the path of freedom and away from oppression.
