The other day I was seeing newsconference by Chaudhary Nisar PML (N) where he mentioned about a possible London conference where different politicians will meet and decide about charting rules of business for politics in Pakistan - framing laws that no politician will in future try to indulge in dirty work of army in politics or invite them in forming or toppling governments in future. BB meeting NS is very significant since Musharaf is wooing PPP at the moment. They have agreed to not repeat past mistakes as inviting army to topple elected governments. Nisar has also invited MQM to join hands against dictatorship.
I think if they can do that it would be the most significant development since formation of constitution in 1973. They could also chalk out to openly to discourage politicians like Sh Rasheed, Haroon , Shaujat, Faisal Saleh to give help to Dictators in future by labelling them traitors. All parties should join hands against such elements.
Past political experiences have failed in Pakistan since politicians indulge in army help.
thery are the only ones we have - million times better than dictators.. dictators have used them more than once.. if only they unite against this instinct of going to army Pakistan would be a great place.. and if they succeed likes of the most corrupt like Faisal, greedy dogs like Sh Rasheed and army agents like Haroon and Ijaz wont have their day.. BB and Nawaz not going to Musharaf is a very bright thing for Pakistan..
The guidelines and limits set by politicians would be an milestone..
Darn! We are going to miss all those threats of long marches.
Rules of business? Wish they had agreed on these rules 10 years ago. Better late than never.
Pak politicians have one major problem. Their true rules of business belong to pre-1947 days, while the world has surged ahead by 60 calendar years and 100 political years.
Even when the rules are in place, it will be interesting to see different aspects of our politikos.
How would the "free market" policies be accepted by the commie leftie BB?
How would Mullahs avoid street marches in support of Arab causes and thus subjecting Pakistan to instability?
Would the politikos finalize the "rules of business" and then willing to work with the current rulers of Pakistan, i.e. the military?
Setting up rules of business is a good step. It remains to be seen how they get implemented.
