BOOMSHAKALAKA.. so much hoopla went on that i decided to let things cool down - but it hasn’t…
Congress might get involved since the penalties by the Major League Baseball is a joke - It will defintely be interesting to see how Bud Seling(MLB Commissionar) handles this - does he suspend alleged steriods users for the season? Lifetime ban? Will this get rid of the random drug testing and make it mandatory for every player? whatever he does - the severity of the punishment should fit the crime.
while reading the SF chronicle - i was confuse about this - and i quote
Barry has never been a media friendly guy but this is out of character really - i figured Bonds has no problem paying upwards of $30,000 for “flaxseed oil” and “arthritis balm”
To claim that "I didn't knew what I was taking" is basically assuming that the fans are brain-dead morons and will believe anything dished out.
However, question is whats the line that divides protein shakes, multi-vitamins and other performance enhancing stuff that athletes use and illegal drugs. After all the whole point of BALCO was that these drugs are not in the prohibited list and thus are untraceable. So if something is not prohibited when it was taken, how can you penalize someone who took it back then? Seems weird. When you make a new rule, you gotta apply it prospectively and not retroactively. If tomorrow, they restrict the use of protein shakes (e.g.) will all athletes who are taking it today be stripped of their records?
Also, what do we know what kind of performance enhancing medicines/foods were taken by Babe Ruth or Aaron? The drug detection tests were non-existent in their time, anyway. Might as well put an aesterik in front of their records too. Good idea? No. Just something we don't know.
More importantly, I don't think the world really cares about baseball. The real scandal, in my opinion, is in Track and Field. Thats where the whole world is interested in. And thats where Marion Jones comes into the picture. Strip away her 5 medals and you really open a pandora box. No athlete in the world is tested for all these boutique and untraceable steriods of the kind BALCO was preparing. No one is naive enough to believe that only BALCO is making these. Who's to say that Chinese or German or Russian pharmaceutical companies are not producing other varieties of non-traceable steroids. These are, after all, non-traceable. And BALCO scandal in US did not blow up because these guys suddenly traced these steroids. It blew up because of a pissed off athlete and an insider. Are we just going to wait that such leaks happen in other countries too? These pharma companies are always one step ahead of doping testing agencies.
Well. surprise surprise. Now who saw that coming:confused: I mean its kinda obvious now that bud selig doesn’t want this news to get out because of the ratings that barry brings with him. If it was some crappy ass player im sure he would have been banned for life by now. After this incident and the incident at Auburn hills several weeks ago, i have found new respect for the NBA and especially David Stern. He has stood firm behind his decision and i’m proud of it.

right...but today we have known...accoording to Mr. Bonds testimony that he used steriods..unknowingly.
Gary Sheffield, his former teammate accepted that he took steriods - so why can't Bonds have the balls to admit it? i mean does he really trust his trainer blindly?

yep he took steriods as well but i don't think he has been taking it for past 2 hours or so...his production has declined well enough...even Cubbies want him out of Chicago..
