There was an old lady who lived in a shoe...

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe...

its out of fashion to have kids aaj kal............it used to be the in-thing in old times..

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe…

That’s £10,000. £15,000 is for schools like Ludgrove where Prince Will and Harry went. If this is cheap then you must have been earning around 200k per year. :hehe:

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe…

seriously hareem that is cheap even to any standards, i will definitely send my children to Ludgrove if royalty went there. i mean 10k GBP is like 15K US.

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe...

dude, I have 3 so £30,000 per year means half a crore in Paki rupees, and I'm talking about junior and primary school not high school. I haven't even added other things like mortgage, car insurance, road tax, council tax, bills, grocery (everything is organic in our house)....and so many other expenditures.

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe...

^besides I wasn't really talking about myself. Majority of parents in UK or USA can't afford private schooling, it's only the middle class people who can and even then it's hard to manage sometimes keeping up with the luxurious lifestyle.

Peace firenze

This is for elementary school … I took a look at one of the highest calibre schools in NY - The Green Vale School in Old Brookville, they charge up to $21,400 (for year 2)- I think for three children, plus UK mortgages, UK taxation on income, fuel (travel and energy bills) and food $15,000 per child is not for the average person in the West.

Remember “free” elementary schools in the UK (primary) account for probably up to 70% of that age bracket, so even paying a few thousand dollars is a lot for our standards here. Then you need to factor in money given to relatives in Pak and to parents it sort of makes it feel like a luxury living to be able to send your children to private school.

Ludgrove probably our equivalent to Green Vale is £7,300 per term and there are three terms making it £21,900 per year (not that we intend to send our kids there) … that comes to $34,200 per year - just for 7 to 13 year olds. Now multiply by 3 that makes about your income just for schooling.

The school we intend for our kids is cheap comparative to the facilities it has I give it that … its standard is that of something a lot higher, but they charge reasonably … but that “reasonable” price is only affordable for about 15-20% of the population.

As for public schools in NY I found this:

F](http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703864204576313572363698678.html)or K-12 students expenditure is reaching $10k per year and they are raising this as a big issue. If it is so cheap then why the headlines?

It may be “cheap” for you … but the average people don’t get enough to sustain such expenses … I know with most of our savings currently going in to home improvements I will struggle sending all my kids to private school at this moment in time.

Re: There was an old lady who lived in a shoe…

right.

I am not saying its cheap for me. All i am saying i had belief that they could be much more. But 30k for two children can be manageable by middle class working parents, given children will secure scholarship for higher studies. A long term bet?

I know few friends who went to foreman christian Lahore, there social circle is totally different compare to rest of us. With such high end schools & friends also comes the opportunities.
