There has to be some justice

Seeing the pictures of our people in refugee camps. Reading stories in the media and from people I know, of life under the Taleban, and life caught between the fighting, enrages me. The million refugees who are now homeless and who have most likely lost someone they knew or loved to the violence, we cannot be content with just providing them relief. That is essential but there needs to be more.

There has to be justice.

It is not enough that every single Taleban leader be caught and handed over to, say Zarina Begum for her to decide what to do. Musharraf, Fazlur Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, ISI all those who enabled them, all those who justified them, all those who denied their reality while knowing about it, all those who didnt act against them until now. There needs to be a reckoning for each of these.

Shame on the Pakistani elite and establishment for letting this fester and letting them gain control. Shame on them for letting us all down, in the name of international games, for the sake of milking money, in the name of strategic depth or ANY other reason they thought they had. Nothing they had in mind was worth what is happening to the people of Swat, Buner and Dir.

May God exact retribution for every home lost, every school burned, every child maimed, every husband decapitated, every life destroyed. Every weary foot that trudged miles carrying bare supplies or an elderly relative, may that stamp on the face of those who failed us. May they know what it is to see your husband decapitated, and only run because you feared your son would be too.

May they taste justice soon.

I do agree. In a perfect world, the ISI/IB cabal that launched the taliban in the first place would be tried for war crimes in an international court. They have killed so many afghans and pakistanis.

Re: There has to be some justice

calling for ehtasab, but do we have anyone impartial enough to undertake these investigations?

Re: There has to be some justice

^ Allah I guess.

short term, no. nobody has the will, ability, both or either for that.

I completely agree, but it is highly unlikely that anyone involved in “strategic depth” will be tried because they all worked “in the best interest of nation”.

ji haazir janab.

Re: There has to be some justice

^ very very clever way to be in demand.
