I am not sure if this is right however as 8% of students are effectively affecting 92% of those who do not fast! less time for everyone to prepare for such an important exam
Will most muslim countries change their ways of life to help or accommodate minorities such as move exam dates around the time of Christmas, Diwali or the Jewish Passover etc? The answer is a big NO
The way most muslim societies view and treat minorities is an open secret. In Pakistan for instance, being a christian is synonymous with being a sweeper or sweepress. Most of them live in filthy, appalling conditions
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
i'm against any concessions given to anyone on religious grounds when it affects the majority. where is the end? ALL religions of that community will ask for similar concessions and that will result in chaos.
smaller sections of the society have to fit in the system rather than asking the system to fit in the individual segments of the society.
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
British Welfare system alone is more Islamic than all of Islamic countries put together.
On topic - as a Muslim and ex student of the same education system, I don't think there is any need to change exam timetable to accommodate Ramzan. Too much molly cuddling.
I wonder if in Pakistan they move exam timetables to accommodate Ramzan?
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
sure...i'm sure the first thing that we should learn from the west is to recognize the human rights. we should learn to respect, protect and provide equal opportunities for our people.
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
"*In Pakistan for instance, being a christian is synonymous with being a sweeper or sweepress. Most of them live in filthy, appalling conditions"
The reason probably is because the sweeper community has been historically doing this job. Probably predating Islam. Conversion to Christianity may have been from the religion of the land to escape the caste system.
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
But this concession is affecting anyone.
The answer is in the OP
Yes it is. Exam date being moved forward means less preparation time for everyone. So now instead of 8 % (not all of them fast anyway) of students being at a disadvantage, the whole 100% are.

You are totally South of the Border on that one Southie!
**Name one Christian/Western Country that has ever had a Muslim on their Supreme Court Bench?
Pakistan's first non-Muslim *Chief *Justice of Pakistan Supreme Court was Justice A. R. Cornelius.**
Re: There are many things we can learn from the West
**On the other hand Mr GoldenAsif the Bigotry practiced in the West is far more Institionized! like building Walls to keep neighbors out what happened to Love thy Neighbor?
And Building Gas Chambers and Ovens solely to kill and burn fellow human beings by the millions just because they are a different religion!
you talk about sweepers in Pakistan! I say what were the Western Peoples thinking when they swept millions into those Gas Chambers!
