Seriously you guys are acting up like little kids. Just based on performance of couple of matches, you all start singing praises, making legends where none exist, start posting lenghty articles boasting about world’s best bowling attack and yet the very next match, the frality and lack of depth in our bowling attack gets exposed. One day Wahab Riaz was the next best discovery after Waqar, being equated almost as God of pace bowling and suddenly now he is a uselss, bad choice etc.
The simple fact is that a bowling attack doesn’t become a world class act based on performance in couple of matches. Our current pace attack is a work in progress and will take at least couple of years before it takes shape as a formidable challange. As long as sun is hiding, moisture’s in the air, they’re taking wickets but once the sun comes out, they toil all day long struggling to get even a single wicket! We haven’t even seen them in action in the dust bowls of Pakistan and India or the dry baking conditions of UAE, how the heck can we classify them as world’s best? Stuart Broad who isn’t even an established batsman, comes in at # 9 and scores 125 against this so called world class act. Should we start forming opinions about our pace attack based on Stuart’s 125?
Instead of getting carried away based on one or two test results, raising our hopes higher than heavens and then coming crashing down hard, lets just give these lads some time to learn and mature up before rating them as the best or the worst.
I still think that pakistan could have thrashed this over rated side 4-0 with the right ingredients and still think that Australia can thrash them 5-0. Quote me after the Ashes is over.
Thats not the point. Earlier you were thinking about Pak thrashing Eng with this bowling side. And then suddenly out of that same bowling side, Riaz became a bad choice. Point is simple, you don't achieve a world class bowling order based on the results of 1 or 2 test matches.
Thrashing is a tall order. Right now against this same bowling attack, England went on to score 446.
You have a point but do remember that big partneships, even record ones ARE often made against world-class attacks for instance this one between Mushtaq Ahmed and Azhar Mahmood against the likes of Donald and Pollock
This is test cricket and such things do happen in cricket. Just like 1 or 2 good performances do not necessarily make you the best attack, similarly 1 or 2 bad performances do not make you so bad. We however do need to address the problem of not being able to finish off the tail because it has been happening way too often with the current attack
And mark my words both Anderson and Broad will struggle in Australian conditions. They are not as good as they look in swing and seam-friendly english conditions

Did I say all that? really? But then why I can't see all that in the "now" secton of your post?

that exactly is the crux of the whole argument. Our current bowling attack is not a finished product yet, its a work in progress. The faces we're seeing right now in the pack may not even be there one year later based on how they perform on consistent basis. Yet if you look at the quotes, people were just falling over each other tyring to declare it the best in the world, based on what? a mere 2 test series! Don't pass judgements so early on. Earlier Wahab Riaz was a bowling sensation then soon he was being labeled as pathetic useless waste. We as nation can never be objective enough. Pul mein khuda bunadya, pul mein jootay marnay shuroo kerdye.
yes we are all trained at birth to open lame threads on pak forums.
saint devil has a point and even a lot of pakistanis would be in agreement.. this is just human nature sometiems.. to big up the players too much bcoz of 1-2 games and losing the long term perspective.

Very true

There is a lot of truth in that too. Hence there is never ever a substitute for sheer pace

I dare say english fans and english tabloids are even worse there..
world best batting line up does not mean that they will do it everytime.. does it? it just means better than the rest.. and most cricket experts.., international.. would agree that the indian batting line up is the best in the world.
and dont forget the best ODI batsman in the history of cricket.. sachin.. was not playing today… neither was gambhir our fantastic opener (his replacement has been a total failure this series)… so the line up playing today is NOT what ppl mean by the best batting line up.. know wht I mean?
^ Yea they are getting selective with what Sachin plays or not.. I have no problem with it.. this was just another useless series with SL.
Please no Dravid!! He rots the innings from the inside!! Please no !!
You might be feeling that because there appears to be not much stability in the line up and just too many hitters. This is not the case usually when we have Sachin and Gambhir playing.. both of them are much complete batters than Raina Rohit and Yuvraj..
Virat is being developed right now as the new and improved dravid.. he is work in progress but I'm all for him.. he can develop into another sensible batters capable of changing gears like Gambhir and Sachin are.. good prospect and he has done well so far...
lol top thread. might be one of the best threads ever posted in this forum.
Pak fans are more fickle than little girls. I'm sure there will be calls for Sally Butt's head soon as well. 5 games into his captaincy, Pak fans already want change. we as a group suffer from ADD.
LoL! If you think Asif and Amir are work in progress then you don't know much about cricket.
Wahab was a bad choice. If you knew anything about bowling you would agree.
To refresh your memory, Pak is not losing because of its bowling. Check the scorecard..England were 102 for 7 when Trott played like a man..not sure which match you have been following.
ya I'll pretend I don't know much about bowling or the game of cricket. This is still better than pseudo experts flip flopping based on single inning performances.
And to refresh your own memory, my post isn't about Pakistan losing or winning cuz of bowling or whatever. Obviously you didn't notice, its about people creating hypes and going from one extreme to another in the span of just two test matches.
