Your ideas are really nice! A few dholkis i saw recently were themed
1)disney characters (it was like halloween)
2)arabian nights (everyone was wearing black abayas lol)
3)underworld theme..everyone was dressed like the mafia with guns

as long as you DONT do all this i think you’ll be good. you can go with color themes, discuss it with everyone and keep the themes that are easy to follow for everyone

These ideas are nice if there is a Birthday party or a halloween party at your place. For a wedding, I dont want the essence of the traditional look to go away. I want every one to dress up in the desi chimku chimku stuff as well.
