I have decided that i will be having themed dholkis (almost 8) for my brother’s wedding and on the actual functions days of mehendi, barat, valima i will keep no themes since i am not a fan of uniformity on weddings.
So suggest easy, simple-to-follow themes for the girls coming for the dholkis. I was thinking that I could try some of these:
**Lehnga theme **(every one takes out their old lehngas they havent been wearing for ages & get a chance to wear them)
Different hair dos or loud make up for one day
Chunris
Anarkalis
Maybe a colour theme like Orange, Shocking pink or some thing

1)disney characters (it was like halloween)
2)arabian nights (everyone was wearing black abayas lol)
3)underworld theme..everyone was dressed like the mafia with guns
as long as you DONT do all this i think you'll be good. you can go with color themes, discuss it with everyone and keep the themes that are easy to follow for everyone

These ideas are nice if there is a Birthday party or a halloween party at your place. For a wedding, I dont want the essence of the traditional look to go away. I want every one to dress up in the desi chimku chimku stuff as well.
i will be getting married soon inshallah and i want everyone to dress up in purple with some colour combinations for my mehndi, as my mehndi dress will be also in pruple with some more shades and the decos will be in the same colours aswell, i hope it does turn out well :D

^ That is such a good idea and sounds fun and would get everyone to really participate! You cud so a theme with the short kameez and churidars lyk in the old indian movies?
