theft?have you experienced?

Living in what is more commonly known as Nai-Robbery I have had several experiences of theft and I'd like to share this one with you...

Few years ago when I was working in a bank, we had one such experience. It was 10 am (tea time) and that particular day, the tea lady was not at work. So me and 2 other ladies from my department rushed to the kitchen which was at the end of the hall to make ourselves some tea before the others. While we were busy making our tea, another lady suddenly flew into the kitchen and closed the door (we were shocked to see her rushing in cos she was rather big and she moved amazingly fast for her size) and she was whispering rather loudly "Quick Hide...under the desk" There was a desk in the knitchen which was also used as a store. The three of us were frozen for a while and she shoved us all under the desk and expalined there was a robbery in the banking hall. How the four of us managed to squeeze under the desk, I cant even imagine, but we did and stayed there for a long time. Till someone opened the door and we were so scared. But it was another member of the staff telling us it was Ok to come out and the cops had come. There was so much commotion in the hall. The staff, manager and some customers had been made to lie down and alot of cash and foreign currency was stolen as well as rings and wallets from staff and customers. One of the cashiers had gone up to report the theft to our managers who used to sit on the floor upstairs. And they did not believe him cos ...guess what it was April 1st and they thought he was fooling them (he had a reputation for being a bit of a joker too) Anyway they finally got convinced and came down to talk to the cops. Amazing thing was that none of the top managers were monitoring us on the CCTV at that time. Normally, they do see the TV and tell us off for talking too much on the phone or chatting away or coming to work late or leaving early. So it was the cup of tea that saved us!!!

which end ur talking about?

stealing or stolen?

we've heard incidents from the 'stolen' side, lets get to the other end as well.

Bismillah Keejye sir.

yah - it way mayhem in Karachi those days. Lawlessness was pretty much the law. Just around that time, a close relative's family had gone through a nerve wrecking armed robbery and we were already talking about putting some changes around the house to make it a bit more secure.

Re: theft?have you experienced?

A relative of ours who was posted in Sweden for some research work decided to come back home to Karachi and surprise his mother, brother and sister. Without informing anyone, he took a cab home and within 1 mile of the airport, he was stopped by some gunday badmaash and all his stuff was robbed. Poor guy came home all devastated and the family was so shocked.. and so mad that he wanted to be a fannay khan and not tell anyone about his arrival.

Last year, this Pakistani uncle who's our neighbor went to Pakistan with his family. Now this uncle is Pakistani but was raised and all in Malaysia so he doesn't visit Pak very frequently. Anyway, he got there and took a cab. When he sat in there, he buckled up his seatbelt and the driver said, yeh kia karrahe hai aap? You're openly showing you're a foreigner and you will get us all robbed! Becharay uncle was so stunned.

Very lucky! With us the case was different. Me n bros had locked our bikes & scooter against the fence in the yard using a thick wire lock. Next morning everything was gone. Kinda sad n depressing when your 9-10 years old. What made it worst is that some badmash in the neighborhood at that time thought they were tough n cool. Few days later me n few friends saw these much older guys with our bikes hanging out on the corner. A bunch of us kids ganged up and got the bikes back......but a week later they were gone again....don't ask :(

and while we lived in that area of the city, every single bike/scooter whatever parents bought us were stolen every year, almost no way out no matter how careful we were. Whether they stole from the yard, mugged my brothers or threatened my bros with weapons...etc......

Re: theft?have you experienced?

once at a party, one of friends got jumped by 3 guys who thought he was alone, but instead there were 7 of us.
We jumped the 3 guys (afghan's or pakis) and during the beating we gave them, I "borrowed" one of the guy's gold chain.

Re: theft?have you experienced?

do not, I repeat DO NOT take cab from the Airport to home from Khi airport. I have heard tonz of incidents related to those cabs and have witnessed it first hand to. Make sure someone is there to pick you up. If no one is available to pick you up, rent a car. Those cabbies has their own % in the loot "maal"
