Friends got together recently and we had a good laugh when we shared the times we made the lamest excuse to get out of any situation.
We have all done that at some point in our life , havnt we! Care to share?

Excuse not by me but my first ever manager…
Years ago,when I was working as a Sales Executive with a computer selling firm,I had a manager who was an expert in getting out of any situation.It was the time of computer revolution in India with lots of M.N.C brands coming in to the market (year 1999).Our company was selling H.P computers and two models of H.P, BRIO and another one(I forgot it’s name :D) were selling like hot cakes.Once a customer booked the P.C,paid his amount and waited for a few weeks for the product but he did not get it on time.He became infuriated and dashed in to our office and started a verbal fight with my manager ,who had taken the booking from the customer.Then as usual,maintaining his calm and nerve,my manager told the customer,sir ,I know that you are person who regularly updates with current affairs.To which the customer replied YES.Then the manager said,sir obviously you would have come to known about the ship wreckage that happened near Singapore.The customer swiftly said YES to it.The manager ,without a hesitation said,our consignments were coming from Singapore and we lost your P.C as well in that.But do not worry,you will receive a new P.C in about two weeks time.The customer believed his words ,gone back,and in about a week’s time he was delivered a P.C and he was very happy.!!!

Last year we had several thunderstorms (the kind that feel like you’re having intermittent earthquakes the whole night) and on one of those mornings, I emailed the HR manager *I can’t come to work because it’s raining really hard. *He was not pleased of course and sent me a reply back that unless your house/car is struck with lightning, I better see you in the office in an hour or so

when i was working, i used weather as an excuse many times. one day it was snowing very lightly, (flurries). i told my manager the forecast in my area, ( about 20-30mins away from my work)said terrible snow storm so i cant come in.. she actually bought it.

i called in my boss and told her i couldn’t come to work because someone in my house got smallpox
my boss reminded me that smallpox has been eradicated
i replied, “well, not from my house!”

My husband showed me an email this week and we had a good laugh. One if his coworkers emailed the whole team that his roommate broke the toilet and that they tried fixing it but made it worse and would be waiting for the plumber between 3-6PM and therefore wouldn’t be able to come in all day. A toilet, really!?
I’ve used the “someone tried to break into my house excuse.” It was ‘partially’ true as some kids were playing and threw a ball into one of our windows and broke a big hole into it, wasn’t a big deal for us but I totally used it as an excuse with pictures and everything of the damage sent to my manager on her phone to make it more believable lol

‘Left my file at home’ in school and college, but it only fooled my teachers for so much since they realised in the end after a few months of observation I had no file I ever brought to the class in the first place.

When I was 11 years old to my teacher :
He was my favorite teacher and I was his best student, and I was selected to represent my school in another one by this teacher. Those who couldn’t come were jealous and started scaring me by saying ‘don’t you know why he chose you ? You’ll be alone with him in his car, he can take you wherever he wants and then cut you into pieces and kill you, nobody will know about it and we’ll lose a dear friend’ 
tbh I was scared and when my teacher came to take me there…
me - ‘I CANN’T come with you sir’
him - ‘Why ?’
me - ‘Because I have a dental dressing and if I get in your car, it will come off and then I’ll have to be hospitalised or I’ll be in coma’
Another teacher - ‘That’s impossible !!’
me - ‘Are you a dentist ?’
Another teacher - ‘no’
me - ‘that’s why you won’t understand, sorry sir I can’t come’
Both teachers shocked
And I run as fast as I could thinking that these teacher will kill me 
My dog is having babies (even though she wasnt).
