by suggesting that efforts could be spent in another direction nobody is creating "fitna".
I can tell you categorically that this is not my intention at all.

Muzna by always stamping/trolling and bringing negativity on happy threads or threads about something good for Muslims our friend Firenze comes along and starts ranting on about how its not such a big thing.
To me even a small gesture is a big thing. Russia is by no means a muslim friendly country, it has a long and bloody history both Russians and Tartars have commited attrocities. But seriously when was the last time any state gave the Muslims a gift in this form?
I think it is a gesture of goodwill. It should be treated as such, true theres some suspicions that Russia is just rubbing up the muslims to stop them listening to the Americans and perhaps divert attention of muslims with regards to Chechneya etc.
But at the same time the people of Tartarstan did not exactly ask for this did they so the Russians have gone to a lot of trouble to make this gift and they have been very thoughtfull about it too moving it from the Kremlin to Kazan.
I think in this day and age when a lot in a lot of Western countries burning Korans has become all too common a site or thought, then for Russians to present a Koran like this is indeed a very meaningfull gesture. As muslims we should stop trying to look for things under the bed and take a gift for a gift... in fact exchanging gifts is also part of the Sunnat so we should be happy and gratefull no matter how big or small the gift.
Offcourse one wishes that Russia and the Muslims get along and do more but each thing takes one small step... if this is the first of many bridges across the communities then it is most welcome.
again lies, when central asian republics got freedom none of the mosques or madrissas were destroyed as our Mullahs were preaching all around the world.
let me quote something for you. A declaration ‘To all the Muslim workers of Russia and the East’, issued by Joseph Stalin Lenin on 24 November 1917, stated:
Nobody mentioned banning my friend. Thing is must you always take the confrontational stance? When was the last time you looked at things from the other viewpoint? Maybe you might things differently… Oh wait… dont tell me… you dont give a … do you?

I was not reffering to the past my friend I was talking about the growing influence of the right wing in Russia you might have heard of these gangs that go round burning black or Asiatic people like the KKK of America except in Russia they are more prevalent. :)
the prime example is this very thread, so the same question when was the last time you looked at things from the other point of view? yaar wesey i know i was a fitnah in my childhood but me now samajhdaar

types of kkk are everywhere we have taliban, jandullah, al-qaeda ..they are present in every society.
I believe when I first came to these forums and many of my friends will attest to this I had very extreme right wing views in fact our friend Med911 and I have always had many discussions and we started off hating each others guts but now we have a grudging respect. I am well known for my consolitary views on India and Pakistan and many members will tell you how I try to look at things from multiple angles… you on the other hand have yet to do this. So thats where we differ.

damn bro, that is an insight. but i am not going that deep, look people have different point of views ..actually forget it .. let me sum it up,. .. refer to my signature.
Saudis' ego is bigger than this quran. They will never accept the gift, rather will go out and print even a bigger Quran, one that can be read from 11 miles, just like the clock tower that they built by Haram, which was a total waste of money and valuable land.
Muzna by always stamping/trolling and bringing negativity on happy threads or threads about something good for Muslims our friend Firenze comes along and starts ranting on about how its not such a big thing.
but firenze is not alone in saying this......to a great degree I agree with him.
does that mean that I am bringing negativity or creating fitna?
certainly not.
I am merely showing the other side of the coin and asking that before we go all gaga about the wonderful gift, we should consider what benefits are derived or how it could actually help the people that it is intended for.
This does not mean that we are not appreciating the efforts of the crafstmen that were involved in creating it.
My personal opinion is that grand shows of gratitude or affection are generally not the way that we are encouraged to behave as Muslims and therefore we should not be blinded by this gesture.

Muzna I understand what your saying now. Thing is me and Firenze have sorted our little issue out now I think and its not just what we say but the way we say things that causes such confrontational posts and views. Its all for the best I suppose as we are all learning. I apologise for my use of the word fitna... I was merely reffering to the way Firenze always has this attitude. However I cant blame you or him for the way you think... in fact its a pleasure to see the other side make its point. Albeit when its done in a serious manner and without the use of insults or too much rhetoric. :)
