Who the fcuk gives a rat’s arse about now-he-is-fit-now-he-is-not-fit-wait-he-is-fit-again VAUGHAN.
In terms of surplus of hype, England is second only to India. They got beaten black and blue in the Ashes, yet these bunch of mediocre weaklings get coverage as if they are a side filled with Viv Richards and Don Bradman.
Monty Panesar can be the captain of England for all I care.In ten year time - I see an England side filled with Singhs, Patels, Alis and Mahmoods anyway.
Re: The World is saved ! Vaughan says he is fit.....
This probably going to be the most boring World Cup ever, no flash, no superstars. Just some batsmen in their primes and others playing their last. Unless a bowler can rescue the tournament, ICC is going to pay a huge price for its stupidities, their mangement wants to keep it 'clean' and 'fast', look what happened. Players injuried just before a big tournament, now pay the price. No wonder Cricket despite being the International Sport is pathetic.
Re: The World is saved ! Vaughan says he is fit.....
His fitness changes faster than Shoaib Akhter at least Akhter can play a match or two in a row.
They are dying to see him fit as if opponent bowlers will pee in their pants when they turn on their bowling mark to run-in and see Vaughan with the bat :). Here are few sentence predicted by me for the occasion
McGrath: OOOooo HOOoo... Ponting take me off bowling COZ f***ing VAUGHAN is batting
Nitini: O ma man Smith....Save me Save me...for Mandila's sake save me !!
Sami: O tairee tu ..... Inzi Bhai ... mujhey pee aa rahee hai, aaap Afridi sai bowling karwa leen :D
Ok he is a good captain but thats not the ONLY criteria to be in the team.
Re: The World is saved ! Vaughan says he is fit.....
Inzi: oie shoot yar, what a calm and soothing presence he brings to the team, and look at his field placements, extraordinary! it doesnt matter if he cant get off the mark
It was the news everyone in England was hoping not to hear. Michael Vaughan has been injured and is likely to miss the first and second Test. The fact that he has broken a finger (his middle right one) and not ruptured his knee again will be of little comfort for England who will take on West Indies at Lord’s in less than a fortnight. Dhobi_bhai....You wont believe this, I was about to search and resurrect this thread when I noticed that you had already done the needful.
Anyways, what can I say about Vaughan ? You should have seen the guy drop a sitter against BD in the world cup (it was sitter of sitters). I don't know why his "he-is-fit-he-is-not-fit" news makes headlines (its on the first page on BBC)....when he has been such an underperformer even when he was supposedly fit and playing.

:-)
I vividly remember the proceedings. Vaughan was positioned at mid-on, he completely grassed it, although the end-result was a run-out. When World Cup was in progress, from time to time the Sky Sports team would debate as to how Andrew Strauss would be a fitting replacement for leadership. This Vaughan, not a batting material, not a fielding material, and little case could be made of his captaincy. Since his larger-than-life innings in that one Ashes of 2005, he has been in the headlines ever since. Missing matches for the most part. Sometimes it seems like the whole world revolves around Vaughan's fitness.
In the long run, what all this shows is that England should have a separate one-day captain. There is a squeamishness about splitting the job which is quite misplaced. Australia have done it with huge success, keeping both teams growing and allowing first Steve Waugh, then Ponting, to get years of practice before taking over as Test captain. English resistance to it tends to be based on the idea that the Test captain wouldn’t like it. Which goes straight back to the root of the problem. (CricInfo)
Re: The World is saved ! Vaughan says he is fit.....
The only time I have seen Vaughan perform was during the Ashes series before the last one in Australia (Steve Waugh's farewell series) when he scored 600 odd test runs. He has been in decline since
Re: The World is saved ! Vaughan says he is fit.....
It's a mystery to me why Vaughan cant score runs specially in ODI's. It's not as if he is a bad batsman, far from it he looks like a complete batsman. For some odd reason he just cant make runs in ODI's. In tests every now and then he plays a good innings but in ODI's he just never got it going. In anycase I think England should realize now that you cant have a guy in the team just for his leadership skills. It's hard to win when you play 10 agaisnt 11. Vaughan needs to fight for his place let alone be the leader of the side. Talk about Malik not holding his place in the side, Vaughan really doesnt hold a place in the ODI side as much as I believe he has all it takes to make a good opener he just hasnt delivered. He is like Sami of England in ODI's. He's got the talent but he has been given too many chances to proven himself and now it's time to move forward.

WOW and you said all this two weeks before the WC began. Very insightful words and right on the money!
