Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

This dude is urdu-fying the things.
I think Idea is to get to original language as much as one can. Its very powerful.

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

Rabb is approved by Allah Ta’ala

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

If other religion use word rab/khuda, I think its easier to make conversation to use similar word.
Rather then using word which they find foreign. I think.
As pakistani Christians use word khuda.

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

So the thread is mute.

No more need to discuss.

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

Well i am sure people will have more to say

The opinion given of scholar in op is ok in my opinion. He feels more relationship/spiritual feedback to the Name Rabb then the Name Allah. I do not feel the same but i can understand him.

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

First thing to remember is that, Allah has no proper name.

Name is a tool to distinguish or differentiate between two similar things/beings. Allah has no similar beings for Allah to have name, neither there was any need for Allah to have proper or specific name.

Allah is an Arabic word for God (English), and it means Supreme Being, one who is most powerful, has authority over others. If there were many such beings than common name would have been illah or god, and proper name was needed to distinguish between two, but since there are no equals or similar beings, we know that only being as Allah.

If Allah was specific or proper name of ‘God’, than we would have this word in every language, all over the world, in every community, as Allah in Quran mentioned that he sent Prophets in all communities across the world, and then every human being whatever langauage they speak would have used the word ‘Allah’ as God, as the prophets sent to them would have introduced the creator with name ‘Allah’ but that is not the case.

Allah has many attributes. Muslims know 99 attributes of Allah, and we can remember Allah by his attributes.

Quran (20:8): Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names.

In Quran (as above), Allah himself decalred that there is no specific name for Allah, as he is only one (as I explained above), and thus all beautiful names belong to him … obviously, it does not mean what we consider as beautiful, but it means whatever name we give to Allah are beautiful, as names given to Allah are always esteemed.

Rabb: Muslims also remember Allah by the name Rabb, but it is not one of the attributes of Allah. It is a word that defines special relationship of Allah with his creation … that is Allah being cherisher, sustainer and nourisher of his creations (whole world).

Remembering Allah by the word ‘Rabb’ means recognising Allah by that relationship, something that can develop feeling in a person of being close to Allah. If anyone would like to remember Allah with this relationship, than what is wrong and big deal?

As for verses in Quran regarding Muslims saying that ‘our lord is Allah’ it only means, to acknowledge that there is ‘no God except ONE’ as Allah means ‘The God’ or ‘One God’. In other words, one should not have the belief on existence of illah (gods), but one should have belief on existence of Allah (God). When one says that his lord is Allah, the person rejects plurality of gods and acknowledges that god is Allah … or ‘The god’ …or ‘One god’.

Why?

Re: The WORDS---------ALLAH and RABB

Its linguistically deficient
