Everyone knows the meaning of the word “Punjab” is Five Rivers…
however the meaning of the word “Punjabi” derived from persian(Farsi) language…is somewhat different…
can you guess?

question being asked is what does “PUNJABI” mean in Farsi…it does not mean “five river wala’s”…
Laffy Ji…Pakistani means…people from Pakistan…you are sidetracking the issue…or making assumptions…saying it is similar to Pakistani…

So why couldn't us Punjabi**'s describe our language or name it in Punjabi rather than using Farsi?

Gurmukhi is the script, Punjabi is the language/dialect. I believe the Pakistani version is called Shahmukhi.

Gurmukhi is the script, Punjabi is the language/dialect. I believe the Pakistani version is called "Shahmukhi".
The province name should be **ShahMukh!
