re: the word "fakhr" and it's pronunciation
i did NOT hear the word...i think u are refering to an Urdu work **"faKhr" *with a 'Kh' sound coming from the back of your throat...it's difficult to pronounce for a non urdu speaker...it mean 'proud of'...*
re: the word "fakhr" and it's pronunciation
^^can you please listen to the song or skip right to the part(2:27) where the singer says it and let me know if that's how you're supposed to say the word in urdu............thanks

YEAH, you are right...this singer **absolutely mispronounced the word***...most people these days do NOT differentiate between 'kh' [as in kheera (cuke])] and 'Kh' [as in Kharbooza (melon], 'g' [gadha (donkey)] and 'Gh' [as in Ghazab]or 'q' [qaanoon (law)] and 'k' [kaam (work)]...it's sad!*
re: the word “fakhr” and it’s pronunciation
i actually wish an urdu speaker had sung the song, it ruins the beauty of the language when the words aren’t said right. anyways, :k:
re: the word “fakhr” and it’s pronunciation
NOT really! one has to LEARN how to say those words correctly…look at Bollywood singers…Urdu is NOT their FIRST language but “MOST” of them pronounce words correctly while they are singing…in their normal conversation, they may NOT pay attention and pronounce the same words incorrectly which they pronounce correctly while singing.
Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yaqnik, late Jagjeet Sinbgh are all good examples.

Lata Mageshkar is the best when it comes to pronounce pure Urdu words. In some interview, she told that at an early stage of her career, she was taunted for her weak Urdu diction, as she belonged to Maharashtra. She took that as a challenge and proved her by singing songs with difficult Urdu words. Her Album with Jagjit Singh 'Sajda' is the best example.

**EXACTLY!
Asha Bhosle was bad in the beginning when in one of the songs she pronounced *"makhmaki مکھملی]" *instead of *"maKhmali مخملی]"...then she got a tutor and worked hard on her talaffuz...she is perfect now!...among the new breed, alka yaqnik is good.*

When its comes to proper lehja, Rekha did a wonderful job in 'Umrao Jaan' compared to latest remake of the movie, where Aishwarya couldn't pronounce many words properly.

Thanks KKF for misleading the OP once again. :smack:
Nisha, it’s Faqr (Acceptance of Poverty with Resignation and Content, Boasting, glory), NOT Fakhr (pride). The singer didn’t make a mistake, the listener did.
"Teri fiqr hai ya faqr hai

so this :
Teri fiqr hai ya faqr hai
means ...
(Is this) Your worry or your saintliness ...
Not
(Is this) Your worry or your pride ...
