The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them

The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

[Qur’aan 24:2]

This Verse as it is, is general in meaning. This means any Zaani (person who has had illegal sexual intercourse) is to be lashed whether he or she is free, a slave, married, or unmarried.

However, this general Verse has been specified.

Firstly, the female slave is only to receive 50 lashes as outlined in the following Qur’anic Verse.

And whoever among you cannot [find] the means to marry free, believing women, then [he may marry] from those whom your right hands possess of believing slave girls. And Allah is most knowing about your faith. You [believers] are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due compensation according to what is acceptable. [They should be] chaste, neither [of] those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take [secret] lovers. But once they are sheltered in marriage, if they should commit adultery, then for them is half the punishment for free women. This [allowance] is for him among you who fears sin, but to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

[Qur’aan 4:25]

Second, this general Verse has been specified by a verse the recitation of which was abrogated but its Hukm (legal application) remained in effect. The Verse was

الشيخ والشيخة إذا زنيا فارجموهما البتة نكالا من الله ، والله عزيز حكيم

“The old man and the old woman, if they commit zina, then stone them both, a punishment from Allah, and Allah is Almighty, Most Wise.”

Re: The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them

The injunction to deal fully the punishment of those who are sentenced should be understood in context to hiding the faults in people until it becomes virtually impossible to do so. We are required to veil people and their sins.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "He who sees something which should be kept hidden and conceals it will be like one who has brought to life a girl buried alive (a pre-Islamic practice). - Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 2292

Narrated AbuBarzah al-Aslami: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O community of people, who believed by their tongue, and belief did not enter their hearts, do not back-bite Muslims, and do not search for their faults, for if anyone searches for their faults, Allah will search for his fault, and if Allah searches for the fault of anyone, He disgraces him in his house. - Sunan of Abu Dawood, Number 2283

Despite a woman pleading to be cleansed for her adultery RasoolAllah (SAW) kept delaying her and turned away from her … and in other cases the insistence of being given a penalty by the person who did the crime is a clear proof that we should not be quick to condemn and if we see a crime of this type we should hide it until or unless it becomes open or harms the interests of others and require their justice. If a spouse suspects his or her partner of zina then they should keep quiet about it and protect each other - even if they dissolve their marriage. The ayat about not holding back or feeling pity is only relevant AFTER conviction and does not apply to exposing people.

Ruling can only be applied in islamic states and has many requirements before its valid, one being of four witnesses who verify seeing it at the same time I think

**
Great points. The purpose of the Thread was actually to bring to the attention of people how a general Qur’anic Verse can be specified by another Qur’anic Verse and by the Sunnah.** I should have been more explicit on this one!

Re: The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them

Lashing and stoning people to death should be least of muslim ummah’ worries right now. We should be rallying against porn becoming mainstream, child marriages, and jihadi brides.

Re: The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them

Are you :naooz:saying verses of The Noble Qur’an are not part of Islam? Also read the hadith I posted to see what the punishment for adultery is, or are you saying he :saw2: was wrong? :smack:

Re: The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them

No I’m saying you’re not part of Islam. You are twisting the Quran, advocating for people to actively seek out folks who are sinning. That is NOT a muslims business.
