Anyone a fan of this show…for me its the best thing iv seen on TV…season 2 aside iv never seen better characters…Cant wait for the new series…gonna miss Bodie…he was a soldier and he went out in style…have a new found respect for him…and its gonna be good to have Avon back…

Epic bump.
I started this show a few years ago. Loved season 1 but I struggled to get through the first half of season 2. I'm down to the last two episodes of season 2 and I'm hooked again. Apparently season 3 and 4 are amazing so I can't wait.
It's also worth noting that the reason I didn't initially like season 2 is because it shifts the focus away from the drug trade to the ports, which is kind of annoying. From reading online, people say that you appreciate season 2 a lot more when watching the show again.
For people who think the show is slow, you're right, initially. The Wire is filmed like a novel, with many quick scenes showing different characters, but when things come together near the end of the season its amazing. Plus, the show has incredible replay value, similar to The Sopranos. I've watched the entirety of The Sopranos twice, and could easily watch it again a third time.

Just finished season 3 today. Baltimore is one depressing place to live. Loved the "meeting minutes" scene between Stringer and Shamrock lmao.

You should give it a shot. It's often ranked first on "Greatest Shows" lists. The show is really a social commentary on the city of Baltimore. The drug trade was the main focus in season 1. Season 2 includes the ports and the decline of the blue collar worker in the US, while season 3 focuses on the corruption in politics and the failure of the War on Drugs.
Besides, what other show has a gay man who robs drug dealers as a fan favourite lol.

The Wire is at a level of it's own. Best TV series I've watched!
It takes a few episodes to "get" it, because we are spoilt by the audience-pandering TV shows where every episode ends on a cliff hanger and there are great looking, larger than life characters everywhere. The Wire is very very different - a no-nonsense glimpse into real life.
