Re: The Winning Answer - Chicken Biryani's Question
The Question :
What is the best way to have a balanced Wardrobe? Say I want to have a decent wardrobe which has desi clothes, english clothes, fancy party wear , office dresses , casuals etc ... but dont want too many clothes at the same time .... then how must i plan my buying ?
Re: The Winning Answer - Chicken Biryani's Question
Theres no such thing as a balanced wardrobe.... Juuuust keep on spending ladies and maybe one day with a little trial and error we WILL get there....................................... (yeah right) :D
Re: The Winning Answer - Chicken Biryani's Question
I buy throught out the year, usually when theres a good sale going on...Plan on buying some good quality basics that can be doubled up for casual and formal wear. For example, we all need some camis, dress shirts or long sleeve tees in basic black, white or neutrals, 2-3 good pants and maybe a jacket for a fomal/work look and 1-2 pairs of jeans. Dresses, tunics, cardigans and tops you can layer with will give you a way to change your look and you can easily add to those pieces with scarves, vests, and other accessories. I usually hit up stores during sale times and you can also check with ur fav store and find out what day of the week they get new stock.
Same for desi, I dont always go for whats IN atm as those looks last for a season or two. Having some classic styles and kaam will go a long way, but nothing wrong in owning a cpl signature items that define your personal style! :)
Re: The Winning Answer - Chicken Biryani's Question
Plan ahead.
I usually buy formal desi clothes when I know there will be a wedding or formal event coming up in a few months. No point in buying a fancy suit and store it in the closet for a while and watch it go out of style when you do want to wear it.
For casual desi clothes, I hardly buy them. Just what my mom and relatives give me. Once in a blue moon I would buy them myself. Do you wear casual desi clothes often? I hardly wear them in my home, only when I go to dawats.
For office/work clothes, it all depends on ur place of work. If dressing up is mandatory at ur work, then I would spend more time and money on these kinds of clothes, since u'll be wearing them for longer hours and more often.
For casual clothes - well thats what I wear most often at home. So I buy a lot - and whatever comes in style. They are put into good use - casual work days, out with hubby/friends, going out, etc.
Also to balance all the new clothes I get, i give away a lot of my old clothes. I have younger cousins and cousins in law that i give to. Also donate a lot of my clothes as well.
It's the only way I can justify buying new stuff - to give away my old stuff.
