Our state is revisiting the whole sex offender registration process and so the debate on causes and effects of rape and rapists are a hot topic on radio and local TV shows.
One of the argument states that women wearing skimpy revealing clothes act as a bait to rapists. What is a ‘revealing skimpy dress’ is a very relative judgment and depends on where you live but we still get the idea where the argument is coming from.
Anyway, I have always been of the opinion that while loosely clad women lead to things that are looked down upon in a ‘conservative’ society (trying to avoid religion here), it doesn’t lead to a crime like rape. People who rape women would do it if given the chance regardless of how she was dressed.
With some rapists ultimately have their own psychological problems and the idea is to do with control and power...not lust or love...the fact is this scantily clad woman might be teasing you but not giving any which might make the man angry...she might just have made him angry...so he feels the need to show that he has control over the issue...or just to piss her off...these are examples not the norm...
But dont get me wrong...there are those who rape because they like the way a gal is looking...thats where you get the rape drugs coming in...she looks nice so im gonna have that...its a more effective way of getting a buff girl drunk...so for these lot it is lust and a girls clothing could factor because her legs are looking banging in that dress...
But to blame a woman for the way she is dressed is nonsensical in Western society...bloody hell...i went shopping today and every gal was out wearing their skimpy outfits...(i love the summer)...go to any rave or party and girls are gonna be scantily clad...its culture...and its hardly new to anyone...so to blame a girl cos she was wearing a mini skirt is bull****...
A Rapist is a rapist...no-one drives him to rape...he himself chooses to do what he wants to do...
Common sense really, the more a woman will make you horny by showing her assets off the the more likely you are to rape her.. Not that, that justifies the rape, just as one side has the responsbility to dress decently t'other one has the responsibility to control their animalistic desires..
Indecently dressing is one of the factors what can lead to rape but it sure aint the only one.
'Indecently dressed' will vary from culture to culture and by women dressing apropriatelt according to their own society's standards they can reduce their chance of getting raped... To women in certain parts of Pakistan it will mean a Shawl in others a full Burkha, over here it'll just be a pair of full length pants and a hoody... It takes less female flesh in Pakistan to make men horny because they're starved lol, it's good in a way because they must enjoy it from their Mrs every night.
Rapists find convenient targets. A woman who is in the wrong place at the wrong time is most likely to be attacked. A dark parking lot at night etc. It's not necessarily about the fact that she looks hot in her mini-skirt. Even 80 y/o women get raped, even kids are attacked. Rape is a violent act of power. I've heard that women in Pakistan are raped and then jailed. The blame is put on the victim as though she seduced the man into committing the act.
When you talk about serial killers who rape however, they may go after specific targets. They may focus on a particular type of woman in a specific age range. Or pedophiles who kill only little black boys for instance. So that is their fetish. That's what turns them on and makes them want to rape and kill. We can't blame the little boys for being black. The blame is always on the rapist who has some screws loose somewhere. So no matter how a woman dresses, how old she is or whatever, rape is not the fault of the victim.

In all these incidents they surely didnot wear anything revealing.Rapists cant be categorise as those who dont get a chance for sex and our desperate so they rape people because in west rape do take place where there is nonone to stop you for anything.
Look at the psychological reasons and why these men commit rape. Rape is about power, control and punishment, it isn't usually just about fulfilling a sexual desire. That's why you have all types of women being attacked/molested, ranging from little girls to elderly women to women in hijabs/burkas. Saying that a woman in a skirt or short sleeves (or any type of other 'inappropriate' clothing) somehow asked to be raped is very misleading and irresponsible. It is easy to blame the victim here for dressing inappropriately, but like I said, it's irresponsible. There is more to the act of rape itself than how the victim is dressed.
No, especially not in cases where the date rape drug is used. In those instances, the woman isn't even concious. Pretty much anybody who is 'alone' is a target.
I still think it has a lot more to do with power and control than anything else.
