The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Assalamo alaykum,

In an attempt to verify the virtues of Surah Mulk, I came across the following that I thought I should share.

Ref: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

so what r u trying to prove Saadiyah?
i mean i read the whole thing .. almost but i didnt get what is it proving? that no hadeeths about surahs are saheeh?

I've read a lot of hadeeths talking bout the recitation of different surahs..and i believe they are true!

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Zainab Ahmed, believe in what you want. I only posted that which I came across and had you read it carefully, you would've noticed that the material about Surah Mulk is authentic.

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

WoW..i was just asking u bout what this is all bout..and if the hadeeths bout surahs are true or not..it seems like u got all mad..

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

To the best of my knowledge, Nasirudeen Al-bani is a renowned muhaddith. I do not follow his fiqh, but definitely do take into consideration his classifications on ahadith.

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Sadiyah, I agree with Zainub. First I could not understand what's ur point? Anyways, I have heard a lot about Surah Mulk, they say it should be recited everyday after Isha or before going to bed, it protects you from "Azab-e-qabar". Surah Waqeah after Maghrib. About Surah Waqeah, they say if you regularly recite it, you won't starve or have poverty. Also that women should recite it frequently, it eases the pains of hummal/delivery. About Surah Naba: I have heard that if read after Zuhr, it protects ur vision, if read after Asar, it strengthens ur vision. I cannot quote the source exactly at this point but if you want, I can search some. I learnt most of this from a book of duas my parents gave me to read. (And Allah knows the whole truth!)
About a Hadith being weak or storng: Imam Humza Yusuf (a renowned American Islamic Scholar) said, that we should not ignore even a weak hadith.

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Wow. This is something new.

Re: The Virtue of Some Soorahs

Larki-NY, the purpose of the thread is to share my findings in regards to the surahs where many are of the opinion that reciting them certain times will do such and such.

According to what I have posted above, it is confirmed that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did recite Surah Mulk and the benefit is also stated; however, the ahadith about other surahs were either da'eef, mawdoo, or the like. If anything, I learned something and I thought I'd share my findings.

As for following the weak and/or fabricated ahadith, then I believe there's a difference of opinion.

In addition, it'd be nice if you can share saheeh ahadith about the surahs that you stated and their siginificance at reciting them at certain times.
