Pakistan, take a bow. Close on the heels of Australia’s radical idea of ambidextrous players comes the Pakistani proposal to have a vice-captain who doesn’t play. Responding to criticism about Younis Khan’s new position as Inzamam-ul-Haq’s deputy, Shaharyar Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Board, told the News that he preferred his captains and vice-captains to be permanent fixtures in the squad. “But,” he said of Younis, "even if he doesn’t play in a match because of poor form he is still there in the team to contribute as a senior player and vice-captain."
so if in case inzi is injured and has to go off the field, and younis khan is not in the playing eleven (which might be the case very often), then do the rules allow for younis khan to come in as substitute and take over as captain????
or will we have two vice-captains????
one on-field and one off the field just because his nomination as vice-captain is a BARKAT for the team somehow....
What a moronic statement by Sharyaar saab. When you make someone VC, you are assuring him of a permanent place in team setup but oh well, thats PCB for you.
To me , it was funnier to read about the comment from somebody in the PCB(I think Wasim Bari) that Yousuf Youhana was removed as the Vice-captain just to ease the pressure off him.
I mean I have heard a player's performance being affected by pressures of captaincy but never by Vice-Captaincy !!
But then we have our share of morons too in the BCCI....I think its a desi thing...
