The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

The recent thread on whether the taalibaan will come back into power in Afghanistan had me thinking…

Let’s put aside the debate on what the UK/US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan has achieved for the invaded countries and let’s talk about what the invaders have achieved for themselves.

What benefit(s), if any, has the war brought to US and its allies?

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Benefits are few in Afghanistan but Iraq brings the worlds largest oil fields in thier hands... potentially.

Down side is they have recruited a whole generation of future Bin Ladens and in some respects increased the likelihood of future attacks as well....

Personally i feel its ruined the whole world and increased tensions among some of the worlds most tense places.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Mineral Resources are the key element in this game.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

All those dead soldiers and suffering families for oil and mineral resources?

They've also successfully managed to defame Islam.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Under the Pretext of "War on Terror" and "Al Qeada" is how everything began and unfortunately it was Islam that became the biggest victim.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Some people knew in the beginning that Americans have long term goals to achieve when they went in Afghanistan.
Some had predicted it even before 9-11 happened.

As Americans themselves have openly begun accepting China as their biggest rival, the whole purpose of invading Afghanistan has become clearer.
And if we look at how Chinese interests were routed from Pakistan, there is no doubt left what Americans really want.

Before 9-11, China was planning a strong foothold in Pakistan. A Chinese base was to be formed at Gawadar. China could also explore oil reserves in Balochistan and at-least some of it would have been exported to China. There would have been a trade route from Arabian sea to China through Pakistan.
And with the kind of projects Chinese undertake, it is possible they would have laid an oil and gas supply line from Arab countries and Central Asia to China through Pakistan.
And Americans already crying foul of how China is eating their economy, this is not acceptable for them.

Another goal of Americans is to export Talibanic ideology into China’s eastern Muslim province. Very few of us ever noticed that during last year’s Olympics in China, a few suicide bombings happened in China’s eastern province and there was a lot of violence. If Americans are successful in maintaining the flow of this trouble into that province, it could bleed China a lot.

As for the number of people killed in these wars, Americans only lost 5-6000 soldiers - a small price to pay for such big benefits, specially when their public doesn’t even know what really is going on in the name of war on terror.
And as far as the Muslims are concerned, they are just being used as a cannon fodder for these wars as before. Who cares.

And anyone who has any doubts about the motives of American wars, just try to find out how “Al CIA da” surfaced in Somalia just after China announced plans to invest in Oil exploration in Somalia. Then started American “rescue” mission in Somalia in which they carpet bombed the complete Somalian infrastructure and saved the Somali people. :hehe:

^ Wow. Really interesting read. Let me read a bit more on this.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Containing China is one of the goal. But excellent analysis.
Other’s i can thought of …

  1. Resources in CAR’s.
  2. Destroying of Political Islam movements.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Political Islam movements? I'm not questioning the validity of your point, I am just interested in knowing what you're referring to.

awww gracías!

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

One of the other 'benefits' is that they were able to 'show-off' all the ammunition, war-toys, technology... don't forget that its biggest export for US.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

More experience in Urban warfare. Also they could exploit the `immense possibilities' of mercenaries...in x2/B.W .They could eliminate their enemies in the form of Saddam ,his sons,Al-Quaeda strong men,if not all.
Also they could garner military bases and could reach on the doors of their targeted nations like Iran,Syria etc.

More CIA actions in the region and a starter for their future operations.
An increased Naval presence in the area means business for them.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

@ Captain: but isn't that a downside? They wasted so much money and resources?

Well I guess they can easily afford it.

Arli: valid points. will comment more after reading up a bit on this stuff.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Aolso the `myriad bases' of corporates operating in the area.Remember the U.S policies are influenced by corporate starategies to some/great extent,.

Re: The US invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan

Good thing is they have not won or even come near to completing thier objectives folks. On the bright side things are still able to swing in any direction.

And Islam has always been a political faith, it sparked a cultural revolution so it's not by any means going to crumble yet... if anything America and it's imperialistic ambitions have only given more strength to the Islamists.

Which is the true tragedy really becuase it may become a new seemingly endless cycle.
