Re: The US Foriegn Service
Back to UTDs question though. There is a time and a place for dissent. That time and place in the US is in the elected bodies. The president and the congress represent the American people. The State department EXECUTES the policy. Now, you can hold contrary views as an employee of the state department, but you cannot let your personal views interfer with the execution of your job. If your personal beliefs interfere with your ability to perform a job, then you ask to be removed from the job. CM could not hold a job, as he disagrees with every frikkin thing the US does!
Every employer has the right to some basic loyalty. At the State Department such sensitive matters are considered that security is also a consideration. An employee who does not have at least some affinity with the American system and the American people represents a much higher than accepable security risk. This would be the same for any country on earth.
I have never heard the guy utter a decent word about the United States Government. Why does he think that he would be so irreplacable that he would be hired? He would be a security risk of the highest order.
And Stu, I am a jew, so I also hate Pakistan for not recognizing Israel. I should be the Foreign Minister eh? I have a lot in common with the Pakistani people and can show them all of their errors. I also demand double the normal pay because my dad was important.......
