Whats the reason for this mistrust between Pakistan and America? And if the Pakistani politicians say one thing to the Americans and something else to the public, then why do they still trust the politicians? Besides do you think that by slapping sanctions on Pakistan after the war vindicated the people who were chanting “America ka jo yaar hay” in the 1980’s?
The mistrust between Pakistan and US has always been there, there is a feeling in the general public that the Americans just use them for their own interests and discard them when the interest is met. In 1979 they needed Pakistan to defeat the Russians in Afghanistan, Pakistan was used and when the objective was achieved plessler amendment was slapped on Pakistan.
After 2001 again the Americans needed Pakistan and they forced Pakistan to start unplanned and ill thought out operations in its country through which we are still reeling. More than 35000 dead and counting. Since the Americans have not been able to achieve their targets some have started Pakistan a scapegoat again.
Read the history of Afghanistan and the Pakistani tribal areas again.
I don’t know what the deal is with the drone attacks between American and Pakistani government, but any such action that gives an iota of evidence of American interference in Pakistani sovereignty again creates gulf between Pakistani people and the Americans.
For a change think about other countries and not about American strategic interests, the view of pakistanis and others towards the Americans might change.
