Is there anything as such out there? Even if there is, can we compile one of our own here? I know quite a few of you guys are in the health field, so it’ll benefit some in broadening communication skills if dealing with desi patients, especially those who’ve learned in a purely English environment. Plus it’ll be interesting.

So let’s start with Anatomy, if you know the urdu equivalent please add it. You can also add ur own words and their urdu equivalents.

liver = kalaiji (not sure if it only applies to bakray)

Sehar - there are probably plenty of Urdu medical dictionaries. Hakeems usually do their studying in Urdu.

umm yes but add either 'iyan' in the end or 'patli' before it

u can fill these in too for the sake of completion

KARAKUSH - some of them are interesting. Funny bone = husnay wali haddi? And testicles? :hoonh: And “daila” is really eyeball? In punjabi its kinda derogatory.

Khumar - i think kaleji does refers to bakra only, not sure though. By the way, i like ur icon!!

isn’t it jalabain..? or is that a punjabi word.

i know we always say jalabain for socks..the actual urdu word is jarabain..
shrugs.. i dunno :smiley:

diareha = Julaab (Urdu)

tattiyaan is more like Punjabi for diareha.

So Nus or Nas is punjabi too.

Nus (Punjabi) = Sharyaan (Urdu)

As far as deseases are concerned here are few

Cancer = Sartaan
Sugar/diabetese = ziabetees
Blood pressure = Fishar-e-khoon

The list goes on ... I just dont want to type the horrible things anymore.
