I was looking at all the Valentine’s Day threads and thinking that in the last 2 decades or so, we have ruined ourselves as a society. We have raised our level of expectations, when dealing with our love ones, so high that a good relationship is always under a constants threat of not meeting the standards that these new (and unnecessary) expectations have set.
You post a pic on Facebook and you expect your love ones to like it – you send them a txt and they better reply, even if it’s a stupid joke that you sent – Valentine’s day is here and you better receive a card or flowers otherwise it’s not a real love.
These expectations were not there 15/20 years ago, because the producing agents were not there. But love was still flourishing, in fact is under more threat now.
Where did we go wrong in last 15/20 years? Where will it stop? I am so clueless.
Its gone Wrong because, people have put a price on love and turned Love in a “Materialistic” objected and not concentrated to what it actually means.
When it comes to likes, replies etc its because we no longer know the meaning of Love, We only know of one type but infact there are many categories to it and if we understand each one individually then we can get along just perfect.
I think it’s also because we compete. My saheli’s boyfriend played guitar for her below her balcony last year, so mine should invite the whole marching band for me this year.
