In Pakistan, during the earlier years, the common man was neglected and downtrodden but during the last 7-8 years the situation has rapidly changed in favour of the common man. Free press and multiple avenues available to give vent to his feelings have led to giving tremendous confidence to the common man in getting his problems addressed in a much more decent and appropriate manner. The open forum, provided by the local government has not only given him a share in governance but has given him easy access to the elected representatives and also the power of accountability over those whom he has chosen to provide better governance .The accessibility of the public representatives in the different form, be it at the Tehsil or District level elected bodies or the Provincial and National Assemblies, has further facilitated the job of the common man who can now easily have a dialogue with his elected representative .

Elected MPAs and MNAs are accessible to who? common man? or is he talking about deputy nazims be accessible?

Accountability? What is that? or did he mean questions asked in media? Accountability is something which this government has cut down on.

Voes of common man include no justice at lower levels, no accountability of LEAs/police/para/military excesses at lower levels, dacoities, mobile snatching, load-shedding and the ever so shooting up prices of commodities. Can anyone list what improvements have there been?

Let me list few improvements that I have seen: roads, increased salaries of professionals. May be there are more but which don’t come to mind immediately.

The initial objectives which were set by the president for his government can be enumerated as below and with the help of these we will be able to analyse the achievements better. **The government under the president has successfully accomplished: **Revival of the economy, freedom of expression, improved defence, devolution of power, financial discipline, improved communications, social uplift-better standard of living and increased per-capita income, realistic foreign policy, true public representation and improved law and order situation (even under the extreme constraints prevailing today due to the international and internal situation) it may not have been possible for any other weaker government to address the problem in such a forthright manner.

Revival of economy (agree), freedom of expression (disagree, considering later purge of media), devolution of power (Nazim/naib-nazim???, sort of agree), financial discipline (next govts will reveal the excesses, for now okay),… (no comment for lack of info on some issues), improved law and order situation (completely disagree).

If all this had happened under a civilian government it would’ve been long overthrown by a military coup.
