Well this news had come up three days ago
http://www.dawn.com/2006/03/31/top11.htm
That Owais Leghari and Gen Javed Ashraf Qazi, federal ministers for IT and Education respectively, were handed two very important additional portfolios.
Owais Leghari bagged Privatisation and Gen Qazi got Culture and Sports. Now it doesnt seem fitting for one minister to have two, even more so when the cabinet is not small and the additional ministeries are of vital importance. One can perhaps live with an education minister looking after sport and culture. But, what justification could there be for a young and inexpereinced (in comparison with Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh) IT minister (with a feudal background) to be handed the ministry of investment & privatisation, and that too in this era where Pakistan is in 4th gear with privatisation and trade and investment ventures.
Either this is temporary before a more serious shuffle etc, or if not, it’s wrong. btw, does anyone have any info on Owais Leghari’s credentials, educational background etc and suitability for this job? He’s been doing well as IT minister, but investment is too delicate & imp, atleast at the moment.
What do you guys think?
