The truth about Christmas

This is a short video that outlines the many different aspects of Christmas celebrations today and traces their pagan origins and how they eventually fused, often forcibly, into christianity. As the host of the shows says, what we learn from this video will forever change the way we look at christmas. It seems to be the first of a series of videos but it gives enough information to set off our minds to look for more answers. Found this on the internet, thought i’d share it with you guys. If you can, do pass on this video to your friends and family and encourage them to watch it.

Re: The truth about Christmas

Christians just wanna have fun and Christmas is just an excuse to party.

I don't think they take their religion seriously enough to care about the pagan origins of Christmas or many other Christian beliefs and practices.

We Muslims are really serious about our faith so we assume everyone is like us but that is not the case.

Re: The truth about Christmas

This video is not about getting people to change their views about celebrating christmas. It is just an informational video that tells people of the true origins of Christmas. People have a right to know, especially something that is deliberately kept hidden from them for so long.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: The truth about Christmas

Oh please! Get off your high horse! Most people value their religon highly... they just don't wear it on their sleeve.

Re: The truth about Christmas

^ i agree Aisha, but if people who are trying to as you put it value **their religion and do not know that if these **values **have anything to do with actual religion, then it is plain wrong - and once again as you put it: they are **wearing on their sleeves

Re: The truth about Christmas

I wonder how Muslims would react if an "educational video" named "The Truth about Islam" was made by some Christians. Or, if the roots of Islam were traced back to tribal customs in the Arabian desert.

Re: The truth about Christmas

^ NameInUse, it would depend upon whos making the video and the intention of making that video. This video is made by practicing christians themselves to educate today's astray christians of the roots of Christmas. They have made some claims in the video. If people dont believe whats said in it, then it is their duty to do some research and prove them wrong.

Similarly if someone would make a video called The truth about Islam, and if i find something in it that i believe to be untrue, then i would do some research and prove that video wrong.

It does not matter if you are unable to find the truth. What matters is that you *strived *to find the truth.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: The truth about Christmas

Captain,

I don't know of any Christians who do not know that Christmas was the Feast of Mithra( maybe not by name) in the Roman Empire. I saw the video, and though it claims to be the "truth about Christmas", it is an attack on a fundamental belief and festival of Christians. This is a video made for proselytizing. Most practicing Christains see Christmas as a day they picked to celebrate their "redemption" and the birth of their christ.
On the same hand, Captain I assume you have no problem with the book to be published that strives to do some analysis on the Quran?

Re: The truth about Christmas

why cant muslims stick to reforming their own religion? plenty of room for reform there. i dont see any christians bombing christians on 25th december over historical accuracy, which is more than can be said about muslims with regards to the recently concluded ashura.

how about a video - the truth about yazeed and hussain?

Re: The truth about Christmas

If you guys have anything to say about Islam, kindly open a new thread. This thread is about and only about Christmas. If you have anything to say for or against this video please speak up here. The arguments you guys are putting forward are like,

*Person A: This car's transmission has a serious flaw.
Person B: So what, who cares! What if i find a problem with your car?
*
NameInUse. If there is any false information in this video please put it forward so we can talk about it.

Queer. This video is not made by muslims. There are plenty of problems with muslims today and someone somewhere is working on fixing those problems. Or are you trying to say that me being a muslim dont have any right to talk about Christmas?

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: The truth about Christmas

faulty analogy.

Person A: Your car's transmission has a serious flaw.
Person B: Its not serious, and the car runs. your car's transmission has no fluid and falls off every 2 miles. why are you so bothered about my car?

Also, muslims trying to talk what is historically accurate about christmas is like Jack the ripper telling pickpocketing is not nice. sure he has a right to talk about it, but no one's going to take it seriously.

Re: The truth about Christmas

Queer. What is it that you have a problem with:

a. Me as a muslim talking about Christmas
b. Muslims making videos about Christmas

If the answer is a. then you should stay quiet too because Hinduism has hundreds of problems of its own. If the answer is b. then for the third time, this video is not made by muslims.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: The truth about Christmas

the problem i have with muslims showing extreme sincerity in distributing videos showing the "truth" to christians is similar to that i have with pornstars having a fundraiser against sexual exploitation.

it would be the same if it were some hindu spreading this video, or a video showing muslims now their faith's riddled with inaccuracies.
