Here are some points we come to know about hazrat ISA's return through the prophecies
He is a man of medium height and moderate complexion inclined to the red and white colors and of lank hair;
He will descend among Muslims, near the White Eastern Minaret of Damascus, Syria, clad in two yellow sheets (dyed with saffron), while leaning on the shoulders of two angels;
He will pray behind Imam Mahdi;
4.He will fight with, chase, and kills Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) at the gate of Ludd
Messiah will rule justly according to the Laws of Islam and not Gospel;
People of the Book will accept him as a Messenger of Allah(SWT) and will embrace Islam (Quran 4:159); subsequently, Cross (Christianity) and Jizyah tax (on non-Muslims) will be abolished\
He will encounter attack of Gog and Magog and will be victorious
Islam and justice will rule, oppression will be eliminated, and no fighting (War) will be needed (will be abolished
Everyone will be well off and hatred, jealousy, and grudge will disappear
Messiah will perform Hajj and/or Umra
He will get married and have children
He will die after living on earth for 40 years and will be buried in a grave next to the holy Prophet(SAW). His advent is a sign for the closeness of the day of Judgment (Quran, 43:61
Afterwards, all believers will die before the advent of the day of Judgment and the other prophecies will take place
The Promised Messiah is none other than Hazrat Isa bin Maryam( PBUH ) (Jesus
Dajjal is a beast like creature (much like an orc or an ogre) which rides a mosterous donkey. The donkey breaths fire and leaps over clouds carrying mountains of bread. Dajjal will kill people and bring them back to life and will be able to see underground. Scientists will immediately convert to Dajjalism leaving behind their Darwanian and Newtonian ideas. Sonar, Planes, satellites will be abandoned, medical sciences will be discarded as Dajjal will be incharge of these functions.
Jesus (as) will descend from the skies. Fox, CNN, Geo etc will be rushing to cover the story but Al-Jazeera should get their first (being closest to Damascus). BBCs John Simpson should arrive just on time. He seems to get everywhere on time. Jesus will float down on the white minaret in Damascus. Just before this, Imam Mahdi would already have been chosen and will be victorious in small battles. Saudi Arabia will allow a pious person to be chosen as the leader of the faithful in Makkah. Poor Juhaiman should have consulted with the government first when he though to bringing Mahdi forward a couple of decades ago.
Back to Damascus now.. Jesus has descended with a couple of angels. He will be armed with biological warfare technology and a spear. His breath will be lethal for the kuffar who will die at his sight. There will be a massacre of pigs first. Yes.. this chapter in history is entitled "Return of Jesus: Massacre of the Pigs". All swine-kind will be exterminated. Even WWF will not be able to declare pigs endangered species. It will be quick and clinical execution. Then Jesus will break all rules and enforce a cross breaking policy. He will break all crosses in the world. Pope will flee. Vatican will be demolished. No crosses will be left on the face of the earth. Now Dajjal will come face to face with Jesus and will start melting. Some sort of biological degradation perhaps. He will run. I am not sure where his donkey will be at this time, but Jesus will capture Dajjal in Ludd (a town) and will slay dajjal with his spear.
In order to be from the progeny of Hadhrat Fatima (ra), it is not essential that a person is from a Syed family. Promised Messiah (as) has stated himself that his grandmothers were from saadat family. So that condition is also fulfilled. Another evidence is that the family of the Promised Messiah (as) is of persian origins and Salman the Persian (ra) was called Ahle Bayat on account of his closeness to Holy Prophet (saw). And in a Hadith of Sahih Muslim, Holy Prophet (saw) placed his hand on Salman (ra) to indicate that the faith will be revived at the hands of a person from his progeny. Quran also supports this assertion that the true believers of the prophet are his aal and ahle bayat.
**One of the signs of Imam Mahdi is that an army from the north will come to fight it and that army will sink into the earth. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

why dont we just accept that the Mehdi is a sleeping pill for Muslim population. we always want someone else do the work for us. Mehdi is a good way of doing that. he has not arrived for 1400 years. and he wont for the next 14 centuries. i can bet on that.

"There will be disagreement at the death of a Khilafah, so a man from Madinah will come out fleeing to Makkah, and the people of Makkah will come to him and bring him out (as a claimant for the Khilafah) against his will and swear allegiance to him between the Corner (of the Ka'bah in which the black stone is) and the station (of Ibrahim). An expeditionary force will be sent against him from Sham (Syria) and the earth will swallow them up in the waterless desert between Makkah and Madinah. When people see that, the Abdal of the people of Sham will come to him and the companies of the people of Iraq and they will swear allegiance to him. Then a man of Quraysh will arise (in rebellion) whose maternal uncles are (the tribe of) Kalb, and an expeditionary force will be sent against them and they will conquer them, and that is the expeditionary force of Kalb, and there is disappointment for whoever does not attend (the division of) the spoils of Kalb. So he will divide up the wealth, and he will act among people according to their Prophet's Sunnah and he will throw Islam by its neck on the earth. He will remain seven years then die and the Muslims will pray over him" [Abu Dawud Book 36, Number 427]
The hadith on Imam Mahdi show us a number of things. He will be one of the Muslims from this Ummah, with some hadith indicating he will be a descendent of Muhammad (salAllahu alaihi wasallam). He will not carry out any miracles or receive any revelation but will rule with justice which will bring prosperity for the Khilafah state. He will not know that he is the Mahdi, as the hadith indicates that he will be reluctant to take the allegiance (bay'ah), and he will need to be convinced to take it. The Hadith explicitly states that he will follow the death of a Khaleefah, and there will be a dispute about the next one. The Ummah will be debating who to give bay'ah to, and they will give it to him. All this indicates that the Ummah will have a Khilafah state, and that they will know how to appoint a Khaleefah.
These points also indicate that the Mahdi will learn Islam from around them, as he will receive no revelation. The hadith states what he will act among the people according to the Sunnah which again indicates that it is the Ummah which will have to be ready to teach and groom the Mahdi to take up the tasks of Khaleefah.
Therefore there is no indication for some Muslims to remain inactive and do nothing; certain event must pass before his arrival such as the re-establishment of Khilafah state, and the preparation of the Ummah to resume the Islamic way of life. This obligation still lies upon the Muslims and not upon Imam Mahdi.

Mainly the explanation given by scholars is that the leader of Muslims, the Mahdi will be a Guided muslim man. But the fitnah of Dajjal will be too strong and only a Propeht (Eisa A.S.) will be able to destroy/kill him.
Remember, Hazrat Eisa was never a political leader, like Hazrat Mohammad (Sallalaho aleihi wassallam) and like Moses (Alehis Salam) and a few others. This time also when Hazrat Eisa will come to earth he will play the part of the religious leader more than the military or the political leader. The military leader will be Mahdi.

IMAM MEHDI will not make any claims. rather ppl will seek him out and make him their leader. the ppl will convince him to lead them in "JIHAD"

If i take your interpretation of coming of Esa AS and Imam Mahdi, do you honestly think whoever will accept Imam Mahdi will accept Esa AS , or the other way around?...
why do US govt have a vice president? its because if one of them fails to rule the country the way it should be ruled, the other person can guide him. They are not divinely guided. Are you then saying that the purpose of Esa AS's second coming would be to give advices to Imam Mahdi AS ? if so, which one of them will be divinely guided? do you then say that one of them COULD fail to lead Muslim ummah? and hence will be in need of the other's help? because in this case, you probably chose a wrong Imam Mahdi.. and uh!! he wont be the one at fault. He will tell you that i told you in the first place , i never was an imam Mahdi, but was 'convinced' to be one.
