The trials and tribulations of miscommunications via the Instant Messenger

I have several examples of miscommunication via IM do other share this affliction?

Example you tell a family member a joke via IM, your sister for instance, and something is lost via the IM communication that would have been delivered if spoken words were used and she ends up thinking that you’re hitting on her. It can make family gathers oh so awkward.

But seriously has this occurred to you, certainly if you used IM frequently at your workplace it has caused some confusion, no?

Note:

The above story is purely fabricated and just an example. Even if it were true it would have only happen only once or twice. Definitely not more than 5 times. In a months time.

Yes. Tones and emotions are lost when u use IM. I don;t use pm at work but with personal IMs i had gotten in to numerous arguments and bickering cos of the darned medium of communication. I don't use IM a whole lot any more.

UTD, we dont hit on our sisters and last I checked it was forbidden in jewish faith as well. Then again, if you support bugeyes, anything is possible... I will love to see Charlie Weis boys put a whopping on your beloved bugeyes.

I agree about the hitting thing, thats a little too much. At the worst my bother has at times gotten a feeling that he will soon get hit by me but hit on by me? Nyaaaaaa.

You don't hit on sisters? Are you racists? I know you think Halle Berry is fine.

The Notre Dame vs Buckeye game has put me in quite the dilemma. You may be surprised who I am going for. It will be a great game and I'll be there in person to see it.

I'm hoping Texas beats USC. That should be a great one too.
