Without sincere prayers, encouraging good & discouraging bad (with wisdom), a consistent embracing of bad side might become embarrassing in the long run, specially in front of those who matter to us. The mutual embarrassment would not be because of the bad side of anyone, but because of our lack of efforts & prayers that could have helped in raising each others level in every aspect of life.

Sometimes people do bad things for very good reasons.

If it is one of those rare cases, then s/he should clearly elaborate his/her intentions in order to avoid that possible misunderstanding.

No, i've not even heard of that saying before.
I mean, being 'bad' to people in order to be 'good' to them (this doesnt quite make sense, grammatically, however I cannot think of any other words right now).
Misunderstandings will occur no matter what, very rarely do we humans accept 'tough love'. We usually just want people to be 'nice' I dislike 'nice' people. 'Nice' people do not have good intentions.

Everybody has a bad side, those who are in denial are clearly displaying their bad side...lying to oneself. Lying = bad.

oh..ok. Now I understand what you meant. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I agree, at times one need to be a bit bad (apparently) if all the polite ways don't work, in order to save them/ protect them from any harm. e.g. If (Allah forbid) I am not convinced by the logics of my wife that I shouldn't go to a place where I (being a human) am prone to many sins, she needs to be (at least look) a bit tough with me in order to stop me (one way or the other), even though she is sincere at heart.
I agree we all have a bad side. But there is nothing wrong if my wife prays for me and helps me in overcoming it to the extent humanly possible, and vice versa. (with wisdom and understanding).
I hope I didn't misunderstand this time. (InshaAllah)
